Spirit of Christmas Books

Post by Sue » Mon Dec 04, 2023 1:42 pm

I was dusting out one of my bookshelves where I keep this set and was reminded I was still missing two.
But went online and finally found the last two at a dirt cheap price.
When they arrive I will now have all twenty volumes. Yay!
I also have a few of their dedicated SOC Cookbooks.

Does anyone else collect this set or others?
I also work on the Cook's Illustrated Annuals as the price drops. Have another one of those coming, since they prompted me to look, saying if I spent $3 more I could get free shipping instead of paying $3.50. That's a no-brainer.
After that, I still have a few CI to catch up on.

I was intrigued with your completing all twenty of the 'Spirit of Christmas' books, that saw me over to Amazon (.ca prices and selection so unlike .com) thinking to pick up an e copy of number 20, found Book 19 a paperback 70.35 which may see the print too difficult for my eye issues. Will try to get to a book store when in the city. When it comes to Christmas ideas and recipes which are your favourites in that series Sue?

Meanwhile will make do with my 'Company's Coming' and 'Canadian Living' Holiday Cookbooks and Christmas cookbooks from my aunt, all the while thinking to your awesome collection of all twenty! :)

I have been collecting that series since the 1980's. I try to buy used. Thriftbooks has a lot cheap.
I mostly browse magazines these days.
In the old days I liked Colonial Living and Country Living.
Country Living has a British version now similar to the old one.
The Southern Living Holiday at Home book or magazine is sometimes ok.

A really great collection Sue! Thank you for sharing publications you have collected over the years. Having on going eye issues these days I tend to do most of my browsing on line or an e book copy. That has seen to parting with one lot of my library but not about to part with my treasured holiday cook book collection. :)
