Finished "The Witness Wore Red" and started "The Children's Blizzard" by Melanie Benjamin-- historical nonfiction about a blizzard that took place in the Great Plains in 1888.

Once again my reading time more limited than expected but have a long winter yet to go to get back on track. What I have been doing is adding more books to my Cloud/Kindle e library and have a number on hold that will make for great reading time. Have to agree with the old adage "So many books, so little time"
I could not resist adding 'Prairie Fires: The American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder' # 1 Bestseller by by Caroline Fraser to my library. It is "The first comprehensive historical biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder, the beloved author of the Little House on the Prairie books." Should make for a great read.
Also have added 'The Less People Know About Us: A Mystery of Betrayal, Family Secrets, and Stolen Identity ' by Axton Betz-Hamilton. "In this powerful and “engrossing” memoir, identity theft expert Axton Betz-Hamilton tells the shocking story of how her family was destroyed by the actions of an anonymous criminal."

As happens at times a long awaited hold came through making for a change of plans, my next read one of historical fiction. 'Year of Wonders' by Geraldine Brooks. "An unforgettable tale, set in 17th century England, of a village that quarantines itself to arrest the spread of the plague, from the author The Secret Chord and of March, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2006"
Be sure stop in and share your winter reads.

I am currently reading The Yellow Bird Sings - By Jennifer Rosner. This takes place during WWII and is about a mother and daughter. The daughter is being hidden in a convent while the mother runs and tries to save herself and her daughter. So far I am enjoying the book and it discusses Jewish children being hidden away during the war. Takes place in Poland. Finished the book and highly recommend!
Onto "Isola” by Allegra Goodman. It is a historical fiction book which is slow going, however it is also interesting about a very different time and place in history : 16th court heroine, Marguerite who gets abandoned on a small island with her lover and needs to fight for survival.

I see it's Freedom to Read Week here in Canada (February 23 to March 1st) a week when "Canadians reaffirm commitment to intellectual freedom and also shines a light on the importance of reading in general"
Today sees another book Robin Cook's 'Bellevue' a heads up from Ellie come off holds, once again setting aside my e -library reads to read those from our provincial library. Have to say between pets, plants and clutter busting it's definitely become so many books, so little time.

I just started "Once upon a wardrobe" in which a young boy asks his sister "where is Narnia" from C.S. Lewis's book The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe. His sister is at school and tries to find the answer to her brother's question, but C.S.Lewis tells her the answer in a series of stories. I am enjoying this book a lot and I think others will if they read C.S. Lewis's book(s) as a child as I did.

Good to see you back Shadows, I have added "Blind River" by Ben Follows to my e library as have been enjoying the thrillers. Ellie, for some reason I seem to have missed C.S. Lewis's book "The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe" sounds like a good read. Wishing you both hours of relaxing and enjoyable reading time and hope you are taking it easy.
I have also added "All The Forgivenesses" sees to a "resilient family's challenges and triumphs in Appalachia and the Midwest during the turn of the 20th century"

I am currently reading “the book man’s tale” by Charlie Lovett. This uses 2 timelines about booksellers and talks about Shakespeare and other historic pieces but also is a tale of obsession and a love story.
