My last read "The Other Mrs.: A Thrilling Suspense Novel" by Mary Kubica is said to have "everything you need from the genre: a small-town murder, a killer on the loose, and an eerie old house" It also has shocking twists and turns. Suspense and Thrillers are relativity new to my read list, admittedly I still prefer non fiction but find the suspense thrillers for most part fun reads. I could not give this one a five, suspect it is likely because I like a book to flow rather than 'character chapters' as I call them. It did keep me reading and did have surprises.

My next read is Rudy Wiebe's childhood memoir, "Of This Earth: A Mennonite Boyhood in the Boreal Forest," which won the Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Nonfiction (considered to be the country's most prestigious literary nonfiction prize)

I enjoyed a recently released childhood memoir by Rudy Wiebe 'Of This Earth:A Mennonite Boyhood in The Boreal Forest ' "His immigrant family cut a farm out of stony bushland in remote Saskatchewan. They hand-dug their well, climbed a ladder to their beds under the rafters, farmed with horses, and traveled by sleigh on the frontier" A good read.

'Warning: When I Am An Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple' only 33 pages and very inexpensive on Kindle, is an absolute fun read written by Jenny Joseph. "Voted Britain's favourite poem, 'Warning', written in 1961, is known and loved the world over for its message of old age as a time for indulgence and fun"

Seeing I had never heard of Miles Taylor, reviews had me order his book 'Blowback' from my e library. Surprised to find I was one on one seeing to an immediate loan. Said to read "like a thriller, terrifying and the most frightening book written by an insider at the White House" So far an eye opener.

It is said books are important to the mind, the heart and the soul, for me Emma Thompson’s quote says it far better than I ever could … "I think books are like people, in the sense that they’ll turn up in your life when you most need them”

Being an avid gardener spring and summer limits my reading hours as well as computer time but always a book on the go.

Have added “ At Any Cost: A Fathers Betrayal. A Wife’s Murder, and a Ten- Year war for Justice." At Any Cost unravels the twisted story of Rod Covlin, whose unrepentant greed drove him to an unspeakable act of murder and betrayal that rocked New York City”

On a lighter note will follow up with “Irish Wit, Wisdom and Humor: The complete Collection of Irish Jokes, One-liners & Witty Sayings " by Gerd De Ley. I also need to get back to Jacques Pepin’s “Heart and Soul in the kitchen

My summer was exceptionally busy spending as much time as I could in my yard and garden but did manage a few reads on rainy days. One I think those who love thrillers would enjoy is “The Wife Stalker” by Liv Constantine. “Named one of the most anticipated thrillers of the year by Goodreads, Bustle, and Library Journal; A LibraryReads pick of the month, about a woman fighting to hold onto the only family she’s ever loved—and how far she’ll go to preserve it”

I recently ordered “Irena’s Gift: An Epic World War Memoir of Sisters“Determined to understand the generational trauma that cloaked her family in silence, her own origins, and to help heal her mother’s pain, Karen set out to unearth decades of secrets and piece together a hidden history—from the glittering days of pre-war Poland to the little-known Radom Prison, where of 500 resistance members tortured, only 10 survived, her grandfather the only known Jewish one. There, Karen finds answers, yet not easy ones”

Suggested reads I have added to my “To read List’

When Time Stopped: A Memoir Of My Fathers War And What Remains” by Ariana Neuman. Reads like a thriller “Ariana Neumann dives into the secrets of her father’s past: “Like Anne Frank’s diary, it offers a story that needs to be told and heard” Going to wait a bit to see if it comes up on BookBub.

Another on my to read list “I Want You To Know We’re Still Here: A Post Holocaust Memoir” by Esther Safran Foer. “Part personal quest, part testament, and all thoughtfully, compassionately written.”—The Washington Post

Waiting on “House Of Glass: The story And Secrets Of Twentieth-Century Jewish Family” by Hadley Freeman. “A shoebox found in hear Grandmother’s closet sent Freeman on a decade-long quest to uncover the significance of these keepsakes, taking her from Picasso’s archives in Paris to a secret room in a farmhouse in Auvergne to Long Island to Auschwitz. Freeman pieces together the puzzle of her family’s past, discovering more about the lives of her grandmother and her three brothers”

I will be looking for some lighter reading this evening, anyone have any suggestions? :)

Looking forward to my winter reads saw me add ‘Milena: The Tragic Story of Kafka's Great Love’ a #1 Best Seller by Margarete Buber-Numan. “The two met in Ravensbruck concentration camp in 1940. For four terrible years, the two women formed an extraordinary bond and made a pact that if only one survived, the other would bear witness. Only Margarete lived to remember”

Twice a Daughter: A Search For Identity, Family, and Belonging’ by Julie Ryan McGue. A compelling memoir that begins when at 48 health issues sees the twins in the search of finding their birth parents. “It involves a judge, an adoption agency, a social worker, and a genealogist. By journey’s end, what began as a simple desire for a family medical history has evolved into a complicated quest—one that unearths secrets, lies, and family members that are literally right next door”

The Hidden Book In The Bible’ by Richard Elliot Friedman ‘Renowned biblical sleuth and scholar Richard Elliot Friedman reveals the first work of prose literature in the world-a 3000-year-old epic hidden within the books of the Hebrew Bible’

'Never Never' an instant #1 Best Seller by Colleen Hover.
"Charlie Wynwood and Silas Nash have been best friends since they could walk. They've been in love since the age of fourteen. But as of this morning ... every memory has vanished. Now Charlie and Silas must work together to uncover the truth about what happened to them and why"

Still waiting on 'Master Slave Husband Wife: An Epic Journey from Slavery to Freedom' by Lyon Woo. Named one of the best books of the year by The New York Times, The New Yorker, Time, NPR, Smithsonian Magazine.

There is no doubt that ‘Pumpkin: The Racoon Who Thought He Was A Dog’ by Laura Young will be my next read. "Pumpkin the Raccoon was abandoned by her parents after falling out of a tree and breaking her leg. Taken in by a family with two rescue dogs, Toffee and Oreo, Pumpkin gained a new set of "parents. With a lot of personality, and a little bit of mischief, Pumpkin will capture hearts all around the world”
