Lots of Pumpkins
Post
by connie1 » Thu Nov 07, 2013 3:40 pm
I have 7 pumpkins that I plan to use up. I am making pumpkin seeds but also want to make pumpkin puree or filling from the raw pumpkin for later use. Last year I cut in hal or quarters for the bigger one, bakes then scooped and cooked down. It is a lot of work , My quetion is does anyone have crockpot method to make this especially the filling or puree so I can some as opposed to freezing. My freezer is yelling at me to clean it out
All recipes and suggestions gratefully accepted. Thank you

Thank you so much kitten. I believe this is the recipe you gave me years ago and I lost it and could not get it at food. dot hmmm Thank you so much. They are going in the oven tomorrow. Some are large pumpkins so I will quarter them first then bake. Perfect timing for the oven to do all day cooking as it is snowing tonight til Saturday. My house will smell awesome.

Now this is yummy looking. I can use the pumpkin puree from Kitten's directions then and have hot steamy, comfort soup for the next few days of snow. YUMMY Maybe some pumpkin bread to go along with it slathered in butter...
Thank you so much for the quick reply!

If it does turn out watery just put it into a coffee filter in a strainer over a bowl and let it sit in the fridge overnight.
Safe canning recipes would be pumpkin butter.

Thank you everyone. Sue I do plan to can a few jars so emptied fridge last night for making room to let pumpkin sit overnight to drain. Very excited to get this process going today.
Shanni- The pumpkin bars seem just the ticket as my daughter and son-n-law will be arriving late tomorrow from Florida so a sweet treat is in order. Many birds completed with one stop.
Have a great day everyone.
