Annual Church Gathering - your 3 best 'Make and Takes'

Post by Gerry » Thu Jul 19, 2012 1:49 pm

This Sunday sees to our annual summer service followed with an afternoon of fellowship and lunch at our beautiful little church in the county. Our congregation extends invitations to all members both past and present which has us taking a couple of our favourite make and takes to assure we have plenty - everyone brings their very best to add to the table of squares, dainties and goodies. Thinking to one of these but would like to add one new one this year. Please share your three favourites. :)

I'll have to think on my "favorte 3", Gerry, I have taken so many different things to church dinners in the past. I grew up in a small country church. It was the best! :)

Coming in and seeing your favourites has me happy I asked - all are going into my Potluck Cookbook!

What I need for this one are squares, dainties or loaves. Keep the recipes coming as I have about used all mine many times over - when you live in Saskatchewan one can never have too many to go recipes! :D

Our annual memorial service at our little country church was well attended. Awesome to see so many gathered to commemorate and give tribute.

Travelling the farthest were members from Alberta - the oldest 96! A wonderful service and a great afternoon spent with family and friends gathered from near and far. As always a fabulous lunch enjoyed in the great outdoors - almost like the church picnics of old!

A call had me find we were serving loaves this year which had me scrambling to bake a couple on Sunday morning! Baked the Hungarian Coffee cake in a loaf pan, only to find bundt pans were acceptable! Dug through my old cookbooks and found another Poppy Seed Cake I haven't made for one long time and one that can be quickly made - must get that one posted so I never have to do that search again. Note of interest grandson said ... "there will be left overs, right?" He was disappointed to find the cake tin empty. With family travelling in I promised to add them to the desserts!

Have all my ingredients out for nightbaker's http://recipezazz.com/recipe/oh-henry-bars for cake and coffee time. Plans are to get back with photos. There is no doubt that I will be following through on the rest of the potluck suggestions that were shared. :D

We are enjoying a week of family time, made these as one of the dessert offering for tomorrow's mini potluck barbecue. They have been sampled, been told I had better hide them. Already recipe requests as well!
