WHO can play?

EVERYONE are welcome (and encouraged) to play CLUE.

WHAT is the game?

This is a twist on the classic boardgame Clue/Cluedo. Using the category criteria (read further), make an accusation--a suspect, a weapon, and a location--with a recipe you have made and reviewed/commented on ANYWHERE on the internet in the LAST TEN DAYS by posting in the CLUE game forum; you can make as many accusations as you wish each week, if you are reviewing/commenting on a NEW recipe you have made. You DO NOT NEED to tag first… just report ANY recipe you have reviewed/commented on in the last ten days. But remember… an accusation combination cannot be duplicated in a specific game; if someone has already accused Colonel Mustard with the dagger in the hall THIS game, you will have to make a different accusation with your recipe or wait until the game resets.

WHERE do I play?

You play at the CLUE game forum at Recipezazz. All you need is a FREE membership!

WHEN can I play?

The game officially starts on AUGUST 13, 2023. It will end when the MURDERS stop!

After a murder has been committed, you can play ANY TIME. The game begins on Mondays and resets each week after the week’s solution is randomly generated and posted. It will be clearly posted in the forum when the games reset.

WHY should I play?

It’s fun. We all love to cook, swap recipes, and share our creations. This is a low stress game that is intended to be fun and social. BUT there is a “prize”! If you make a correct accusation, EVERY PLAYER that played that week will be asked to make and review a recipe by the winning player, the MASTER DETECTIVE (or a person they select to be honored in their stead), and that the recipe made in the memory of the victim be posted as an accusation in this game. (There is NO tagging for this game; we will use the honor system.)

HOW do I play?

I’m glad you asked! Almost any recipe you have made will fit into the game categories. Each accusation must include all three categories (suspect, a weapon, and a room): which SUSPECT murdered the victim, with what WEAPON did they kill the victim, and in which ROOM was the victim slain?

Example of how to make an accusation:
NELady is making an accusation. It was Colonel Mustard, with the dagger, in the hall. <insert link to recipe with review/comment here>.

The game hosts will double-check your link to make sure your review/comment is posted, and that the recipe fits the accusation criteria. If the site has a long moderation process, feel free to post your comments/reviews along with your accusation so you can get credit immediately. Then the accusation will be officially submitted to the Murder Board on the first page. Each week, the solution will be randomly generated, the game will be solved, and the game will be reset. IF there is a winner, it will be announced. (There is no guarantee that anyone will win each week.)

Remember, unlike most forum games, you do not need to tag a recipe first. You can use any recipe on the internet if you can review/comment on it. You are welcome to make accusations from recipes you tagged in other forum games, here or elsewhere (such as FFF). You can make as many accusations as you wish, so long as the recipes were reviewed in the last ten days.

You are not required to post a photo with your accusation, though we all love crime scene photos and would love to see them should you wish to share.

JUST LIKE IN THE CLASSIC BOARDGAME… ONLY USING RECIPES! Make an accusation by naming the suspect, weapon, and room! Remember, no accusation can be duplicated during each game round, which means that no two detectives can accuse the exact same combination of suspect, weapon, and room in each round.

CATEGORY CRITERIA:

SUSPECTS: Ingredient’s COLOR (Your recipe MUST have ingredients that match the suspect’s color… or you can use Mrs. Peacock, the wildcard, who counts for ANY color.)

Colonel Mustard -- yellow
Professor Plum -- purple
Mr. Green -- green
Mrs. Peacock – Any color (like a peacock’s feathers) that isn’t another suspect color.
Miss Scarlet – pink/red
Mrs. White -- white

WEAPONS: The weapons category is for COOKING TECHNIQUES. (The revolver is the wildcard for this category, which counts for ANY cooking technique that isn’t listed.)

Dagger – Chopping/Knife Work
Candlestick – Open Flame/Grilling/BBQ/Torch
Revolver – “A Shot in the Dark” – Basically, if it doesn’t fit into any other category.
Rope – Something tied (either physically tied with something like twine or made into a tied/twist shape, such as bread or a cocktail garnish)
Lead Pipe – Cooked with WATER (such as boiling, stewing, braising, sous vide, steaming, etc.)
Wrench – Wrapping Food (any variation of how a food item could be wrapped, such as bacon around meat or a jalapeno or a wrapper around a caramel or a tortilla around beans.)

ROOMS: Where you would eat/drink/serve your recipe. (The Hall is the wildcard for this category, which counts for ANY location that isn’t specifically listed.)

Hall: The front hall of a house or building, just inside the front main door, that leads to most rooms in a house. This is the wildcard room.
Lounge: Any place where you would hang out and lounge, like a living room/TV room/game room.
Dining Room: Any place you would serve a formal meal.
Kitchen: Any place where you would set out food to be put together by people eating (like buffet/smorgasbord/potluck)
Ballroom: Party or Special Occasion
Conservatory: Garden/Anywhere Plants Grow/Picnic
Billiard Room: Bar/Pub/Tavern
Library: Any place you would go to learn more about any other place/food/culture/ingredients/recipes – such as a library/museum/travel/airport/travel
Study: Any place where KIDS/FAMILIES would eat. Because kids are students and students are supposed to study, right?
