Digestive/Food Enzymes
Digestive/Food Enzymes
I saw a doctor on TV which mainly deals with herbs and ayurvedic medicine talk about them and how they are good for the body. After doing research online and saw a majority of people say they use it with good results I decided to look for some here with very limited success. Some people claimed to be allergic to it, others said they didn't see any difference.
I will post further on the one I found and have started taking later when I have more time. But if anyone else has any experience with this product. I would love to hear how you think it works or didn't work for you.

Re: Digestive/Food Enzymes
I do use Nature's Way Broad Spectrum Food Enzymes since I saw the show. It has a combination of enzymes and herbs. Since I began using it I haven't had to take the acid reflux medicine anymore. I didn't knew I had that cause I was getting only indigestion and this choking feeling, no burning and this was a few years back. So I went to the doctor and she said it was acid reflux and gave me a very light medication to take once a day with breakfast.Well lately I noticed I was having indigestion problems again and decided to do some research on the net and decided I wanted to stop the tablet cause it is in the class of "proton pump inhibitor" and these tablets only let out stomach acid to digest food as seen fit. Also when I watched the show, the guy said that acid reflux is not usually too much acid, but too little acid in the stomach. I tried to come off the tablets many times before learning about all this and promptly had to get back on it *sighs* - Side note: I am not a fan of medication, unless it is a multivitamin or if it's herbal. But I will take something if I have no choice but to take it.
When I stopped the acid reflux tablet and started the enzymes, which is about 1 1/2 months now it took a couple days for the acid to calm down (I actually got burning which wasn't an original symptom - this burning also would come on when I tried to stop in the past) Since I was taking the enzyme this time I beared with it and didn't re-start the acid tablet. Since then I haven't had any trouble with burning or indigestion and I regularly eat lots of pepper - even when I was the acid pill (I'm talking habanero heat range - cause it's what I grew up eating and love food with lots of pepper) I haven't really tried eating pineapple again yet (I stopped eating pineapple when I started taking the acid tablets) but I love pineapple, so I have to try that and see what result I'll get.
Long story short, food enzymes worked for me and I only take it two times a day between breakfast and lunch and then sometime in the evening (cause I had to find a way for it to work more effectively for myself.) On the bottle it says to take 2 tablets before each meal with a glass of water (which is 6 a day.) Now the amount is not the problem for me, the way of taking it posed the problem for me. I couldn't drink a whole glass of water before eating, I ended up too full to enjoy my food. I also only take 2 a day cause that amount works very effectively for me. My usual routine of medicine is 1 probiotic multivitamin in the morning after breakfast, then after an hour or so 1 food enzyme, then after eating lunch, 1 food enzyme and sometimes 1 fennel seed capsule later in the evening.
