Morning Everyone!

And, a HAPPY CANADA DAY to all my friends up north!

July already ... and, the 4th of July is just around the corner. FL has a nasty little storm of the east coast; that, hopefully won't affect any 4th of July celebrations.

Today, I got called in to work tonight to train the newbie. So, he offered to make dinner for us. Turns out, he loves to cook. So, he is making something on the grill for me, chicken I think. We have a great grill at work, and often cook there; so, that's the plan. I offered to bring something; and, he said NO WAY. It was my day off, and I had to go in; so his treat.
I LIKE this guy!

I'll probably take some of my homemade coffee ice cream for him.

I hope everyone survived the bad storms the other day up north; some nasty weather. But, yes, a little cooler will be nice for you.

My friend in IA and another in MN are both underwater. Hope you get a few dry days - you need it.

WHAT'S FOR DINNER - JULY 2014

Post by CarrolJ » Tue Jul 01, 2014 4:04 pm

Trying to pack for our little trip downstate. Not all of the family is going. The rest of us are going down to celebrate the birthday of not only our country but also the 125th birthday of the small town we are moving to soon. Our DD and DSIL are currently under contract for a 'new to us' home. Actually it is a huge old home. Our DSIL has had a transfer and a promotion so we all need to move there.

Since I am trying to not leave leftovers in the fridge, I took the leftovers from our Coneys last night and am making them into a pot of chili for supper. I even experimented and ground up the beef hotdogs and added them to the chili. (never done that before) Hopefully it will still be a good chili.

I suppose 4:15 is a little late to start thinking about what we can eat. :? Back to the freezer stash, which means we'll probably end up with #recipe7688 or #recipe7632. I also have yet another attempt at salvaging that awful broccoli and cauliflower salad recipe to try, and then it goes in the trash.

Morning Everyone ... although it feels like afternoon to me. Up since 4:30. A long day ahead.

Everyone sounds like they had a plan yesterday. This am, I made a small food basket for two of my friends to take on their trip up the coast. They left early this am.
We had egg, potato, and sausage burritos; and, fruit. They are heading up to see family that live in the Cape - Hatteras that is. NOT a good place to drive to with the tropical storm/hurricane right now.
And, I made them food to eat on the way up; so, they could drive straight through (which was the plan). Cuban chicken subs, corn and black bean salad, spud salad, fruit, chips/dip; and, a big thermos of mango ice tea. They should have enough for all day - lunch and dinner.
They left around daylight.

Today ...
Lady #3 and just me - Lady #3, a pot of cabbage soup w/lots of veggies and ham; a baked swiss and mushroom bread

Me, I have a pan of mac and cheese in the freezer, 5 bean salad; and, watermelon for dessert.
