What WAS on Your Plate & and WHAT'S for Dinner Tonight 5/13
So, are you superstitious? I'm not ... but, admit ... I won't take any chances.
Now, today is pretty easy. I am cooking for 2 of the ladies who hold their CARD/GAME night most Friday's. So, it isn't anything difficult.
Ladies #1 and #2: Relish tray (mixed pickles and olives, pickled peppers, roasted tomatoes), New England Boiled Dinner (picnic ham, potatoes, turnips, carrots, cabbage, rutabaga); shortbread cookies filled w/strawberry jam
Note: I grew up with the classic corned beef and cabbage dinner ... but also the New England Boiled dinner. That was not cooked in beer, picnic ham NOT corned beef; and, more vegetables. Mom would add a little cider vinegar and mustard to the broth.
It's all done and cooking. Just need to drop off.
Me, I took out a what I thought was a casserole, but it isn't. It's 4 braised pork chops in beer/broth with potatoes, onions, and mushrooms. It will be delicious. I'll serve with applesauce (also my freezer stash); and, a grilled romaine heart w/blue cheese. It's all cooked, just reheat.
Happy Cooking Everyone - Sorry I was late!
Dealing with a very sick kitty; who unfortunately may pass away, she is 28 ... yes 28. It's been a rough morning.
