Both teens were busy tonight - so DH surprised me with dinner out. We went ot one of my favorite restaurants. The owner is from Puerto Rico and started washing dishes at another local restaurant. She always wanted her own place. She has it now, and her sons and nephew who used to cook in several higher end restaurants - now work in her place. it has an unusual mix of Caribbean ( family favorites ) Italian ( son#1 was the chef at a high end Italian place ), French ( son #2 ) and American standbys ( nephew).
I've tried lots of different things on the menu and I have never had anything but excellent food. Tonight it was mofongo ( a mashed plantain tower - filled with sauteed beef and veggie ) and a puposa with beans. DH had lobster mac n cheese and a caesar salad and deep fried plantains. We both had wine. Dinner came to $45.00 before tip..... That is crazy cheap for a Boston suburb.
I am stuffed now !

After spending the day in town, I was exhausted when I got home. I ended up with some deli prepared ham and cheese pot pie with a sided of fresh sautéed baby kale. It was decent.
Karen, I think it's great that you have such a seemingly great restaurant find to turn to in a hurry ;) ;) I would have loved to have staying in town and eaten out, but I had frozen foods to get home....maybe next week.

Karen, I love mofongo. I have had it once; and it is delicious. And plantains, I also am addicted to. I just had some last week at a cuban restaurant I went to, when I visited my friend. I love the place; wish it was closer.
Your restaurant sounds really good. $45 for that dinner and wine, it a very decent price. Sounds like a nice place.
Deepster, your dinner sounded just fine - love baby kale. I got some last week at the farmers market - good stuff.
Dinner, enjoyed dinner by the pool; it was late, but good.
Today's Cooking ...
Lady #3 I will deliver this am; it's already done (just reheat)
Lady #1 and 3 guests: Breaded veal rolls, stuffed w/asparagus and cheese, topped with a white wine sauce (new recipe); mashed parsnips; mixed baby greens w/mustard honey vinaigrette (dressing and green done; parsnips cooking); I will cook the veal on site.
Me: Cold plate. Leftover steak from Mon, served cold w/creamy horseradish sauce; 5 bean salad; cucumber tomato onion salad; whole wheat roll

I have chicken breasts defrosted, so not sure if its going to be grilled or cut up into some kind of dish, but definitely chicken something!
Karen, your night out sounds wonderful!
Felix, have fun with your night out! Sounds like it sorely needed.

Dissie, I did have fun, and it most definitely was needed. Sometimes if I reset my own brain the rest of the world plays along.
Mom's going out for dinner with a friend tonight, so I'm pigging out. Bacon, fried potatoes, fried eggs (all done in bacon grease), and some cornbread with local honey.

I'm doing KaseyCS's Kraft Dinner Chili Beef Mac & Cheese(#12948). It's in the oven now, and the smell is great. Gosh, it makes tons of food, but I wanted to do something as OAMC, so this is going to definitely fit that bill!!

One of my favorite salads Karen. I love all the Mediterranean flavors.
