I think you were north of the mess. Lucky ... hopefully the END of winter. Spring is less than a week away ... but I don't think Mother Nature passed it along.

Morning ...

What a day makes, my heel is much better today; tender, but much easier to walk on. If I had more carpet in the house, that would definitely help

Last night, I loved the dinner my lady friend brought me. It really was sweet and tasted great - I didn't have to do a thing.

Tonight, I'm not really cooking ... it is just salad night. I feel like a BIG salad for dinner. I have spinach, romaine, artichokes, olives, tomatoes, cucumber, onion, hard boiled egg, celery; and, probably a few more things. Plenty of cheese too.
And, I have bread I made in the ABM yesterday.

And, using an almost empty jar of stone ground mustard to make a warm vinaigrette.
Add some white wine vinegar, grated garlic, and olive oil to the jar and shake. Microwave, lid off of course for 30 seconds. Add s/p, herbs and lid back on and shake. Done. Pour over the salad.

Cold outside!
Last night I did the hash with poached eggs. Macerated some strawberries and made shortcakes for a dessert (I don't really make dessert very often). It was easy and uses up those strawberries I got on sale that actually looked *ripe* (missing Florida right now)!
I still have the trout- must cook today.
I had some kale was going to make colcannon with it but decided not to. Worked it up with some of that bag of potatoes I bought and the end of the bacon and the rest of the Irish cheddar I had used earlier in the week, made into a bacon-cheddar chowder. Good for staring at the bloody snow outside.
With fish, maybe rice. Was looking for my box of wild rice and can't find it. Wondering if I used it up and forgot. Always have things for salad. After your mention of it, Kim, I think that's a go. Not dinner sized today though. Just a chopped salad on the side.
Pondering if I want to do the Irish soda bread (had not got to that yet). I'll see how I feel about it in a few hours.
Everybody stay warm. If it is warm where ya are, just shaddup. ;) LOL
So. Tired. Of. WInter.

While I do not seem to get posting here all that often, I do drop in daily for inspiration! May I say I throughly enjoy my time here in 'What's For Dinner' as I am sure many others do as well.

We have had one long brutally cold winter here in Saskatchewan, these past few days seeing to some melting. The sun tried to come out this morning but remains dull and dreary out there. Please let that not be an idicator of another snow storm! Thinking it's the perfect day to get to MikeKey's Fish Stew #recipe11397 so for me supper in a bowl! :)

Gerry, we are glad to see you any time you stop in.

Yes, it's a good way to toss around ideas. Sometimes, just seeing what someone else makes can be an inspiration. Even if it is leftovers, or freezer stash; it doesn't matter. I think Dissie made something with leftover chili the other night as a casserole. I did the same, but made tacos. So, ones ideas can be dinner for someone else.

Fish Stew sounds delicious, especially with the COLD weather. A one pot wonder is perfect.

The north really got slammed with snow; and, plenty of cold weather. I hope you start thawing out soon. I think everyone is sick and tired of Winter this year; and it doesn't seem to want to end.

Since I have done absolutely no planning ahead, I am going to make chicken fried rice. Easy and everyone always enjoys it.

Sue you would miss it today ... even chillier than most days 63 and sunny. Really nice out. 74 tomorrow, typical FL. Sorry about the cold and bad weather up there. Many friends going through it as well.

Hash is always good. Especially poached eggs ... a favorite of mine. As I said ... I'm just fridge cleaning tonight. A chopped salad is always good.

I 86'd the soda bread when I found I was down to one egg and didnt want to shop.
I did make the trout, amandine style, and made mushroom wild rice pilaf from scratch and also roasted asparagus, which was easy enough.
Pushed off salads until tomorrow.

We had chicken fried rice and store bought egg rolls with my home made sweet and sour sauce for dipping. It was good, very good, but I missed the home made egg rolls. So did the family, said these are good but not yours! That felt good that they appreciate the home made egg rolls, but I told dh, they are lots work. And also fried, since he came up high on triglycerides, going to be nixing fried for while. Shhhhhh So maybe will be experimenting with my rolls but oven done on a cooling rack to use the conversion part of my oven.
