106 degrees ... ouch ! its 80 degrees and cool here ( but I will be crying in the winter ).

Your mother wants dinner - oh my - you handled it very well - I would have been frustrated.

I made a marinated pork tenderloin on the grill, but DH and my oldest son made me so mad tonight ( over a fiasco with EBAY ) , that I went for my all time favorite comfort food. Baked potato with cottage cheese and american cheese - all smooshed up.

I thought about adding a fried egg - but just too lazy !

Morning Everyone

Woke up to a huge thunderstorm - no complaints, we need it. It is going to mess up my landscaping today; but, no complaints.

Today's Cooking ...

Ladies #1 and #2: Soup, BLT's, homemade pickles, fruit (http://cookandbemerry.com/chilled-leek- ... tol-farms/)

Me: Boozy orange grilled shrimp and onion kabobs (new recipe - it is shrimp marinated in garlic, red pepper flakes, gin, and orange marmalade), scallion orange rice; and green beans in a foil pouch

Tonight I baked some boneless skinless chicken thighs in homemade BBQ sauce (gifted from a friend); sauteed some zucchini, summer squash, and red onion (gifted from my sister's garden); and heated up a bag of Green Giant steamables veggies. Not bad considering grocery day is tomorrow for the first time in two weeks.

Good Morning!

Felix, dinner sounds good. Home BBQ sauce I bet was delicious; and, squash right now; crazy. They are so cheap at the Farmers Market right now. I think zucchini bread will be on the menu.

A morning shower yesterday; but, nothing today. Dry, so off to Home Depot once again. More yard work - FL is year round never ending. And, even when it rains; I have to water all 22 of my hanging baskets DAILY, or they die. They are right under the over hang, so they don't get wet. A PIA, but, I do love all the fresh flowers. Also, later this month ... back to the veggie garden.

Dinner Tonight ...

Lady #3 w/family in town: Turkey burgers open face (on brioche), topped w/sauteed apples onions, sharp white cheddar, and an apple BBQ sauce; sweet potato fries; fruit
An early dinner - late lunch; as the company will be heading out.

Me: Lamb meatballs (freezer stash) served in a pita or flatbread w/tzatziki, tomato, greens, red onion; sweet potato fries; watermelon
(if you reheat the meatballs in a little broth, they become very moist; and perfect to break apart for the sandwich)

Kim - Lady #1 dinner sounds great - I will have to try that combo on turkey burgers.

Felix - your dinner sounded really nice - I try to stretch grocery shopping out a bit - and it is amazing what you can come up with.

We have a couple farm stands near us - people with gardens etc. I loaded up on squash, pepper and zucchini last night.

I love the squash right out of the garden. I think I will make faux crab cakes with the zucchini. I actually like these better than real crab cakes.

Dinner will probably be leftovers and clean out the freezer tonight.

Karen, dinner sounds delicious. Right now, I love the squash as well. Between that and the summer corn; I could live on just that. CORN night is always a good thing.
I usually call my poker buddies and invite them over for a CORN night; they are great at that.

I do have a recipe for the turkey burger; but, I'm perfecting it as far as the ingredient amounts today. I want to make sure I have it right. I add apple jelly to the burger as well as the BBQ sauce; so, it has lots of flavor; but, it is really very easy to make. It makes a great FALL burger.

I put the most random collection of things on the grocery list, I'm not sure what the heck I'm gonna do for dinners! Luckily I still have chicken, so I think I'm doing crock pot chicken in mushroom-wine sauce (from All Recipes) served over brown rice with Mediterranean Watermelon salad (from the National Watermelon Promotion Board) and the leftover zucchini and summer squash on the side. I also still have my watermelon granita in the freezer, so we'll finish that off for dessert.

Morning and TGIF!

For those in Hawaii, stay safe; even though it isn't a hurricane anymore - there can be a lot of damage. We all have seen that before.

Today's Cooking ...

Ladies #1 and #2: Card/Game Night - Cancelled. Grand kids in town/other plans
Lady #3: Spinach/ham quiche; fruit salad; roasted chilled cherry tomatoes

Me: Since I changed to spaghetti last night; back to my lamb gyro type of sandwich w/tzatziki, etc; sweet potato fries

After dinner, I want to go and see "Into the Storm," I'll see how busy it is. Or, my friend asked me over to play some pool and hang out. One or the other.
