WHAT'S FOR DINNER - DECEMBER 2013

Re: WHAT'S FOR DINNER - DECEMBER 2013
Dropped a 40-pound steel plate on edge directly across where my toes attach. Wasn't wearing steel toes because I shouldn't have needed them for a little stupid corporate dinner in the ballrooms. And yeah, worker's comp is taking care of it, but I am not allowed to work at all and I'm not eligible for unemployment because worker's comp will eventually pay me a little (it takes them about six weeks to process). I was originally scheduled to have exactly two days off between now and Christmas, averaging 16 hours a day. I've already had to pay for my prescriptions out of pocket, but supposedly at some point they'll send me a form to fill out for reimbursement.Kchurchill5 wrote:How in the world did it happen? At work ... I would hope it would be workers comp for that at least. Not that it makes that any better, but at least med expenses would be paid for. Again, so sorry.
New dinner plan: I'm having soup. Don't know what she's having, but she vetoed pizza because the crust is high carb.

I hope you can find assistance if you need it if it takes awhile getting your payments.Felix4067 wrote:Dropped a 40-pound steel plate on edge directly across where my toes attach. Hang in there.

Luckily, I still had leftovers I could reheat. Tomorrow I'll do the chicken.

Hang in their Felix. I'm sorry Mom is so hard on you; and difficult. She should be cooking for you and doing the dishes.
Today is busy. Been up since 4am cooking at my friends kitchen (it a commercial kitchen) and for catering, it is important to follow all those rules and regs.
Catering a dinner party for 12 at 4pm; I set the table last night; so, all set. They wanted to use their own china and crystal. I got some cute mini pointsettias to add to the table with lots of small red and white voltives. Also, have a really pretty glass vase I am filling with cranberries and tree branches for a natural centerpiece.
Everything is done. I will cook the steak and oysters there. Heat up the rest, and done.
Hopefully I can be out of there by 8 or so. My friends daughter is helping; and she is doing the clean up for me. She is 14 and just amazing ... she wants to be a chef; and, she is already a good cook.
I give her cooking lessons and she makes a little $$ on the side too. Works out great for both of us.
Dinner is ...
Grilled fresh oysters with http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/cool-a ... sauce-8028; http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/perfec ... roast-3619 w/a brandy cream sauce; http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/duches ... inish-8561 oil over roasted shitaki mushrooms; salad with endive and mache, poached pears, blue cheese and walnuts, w/a champagne vinaigrette. Dessert is a warm cherry sauce over a homemade chocolate ice cream (no ice cream maker required)
Me and my helper: Sesame grilled chicken (one recipe on here, haven't picked one out yet), grilled cabbage wedge, and Asian rice

Re: WHAT'S FOR DINNER - DECEMBER 2013
I thought I posted this, but apparently I didn't.
Last night, I was tired after catering, and decided to scrap my Sesame chicken. I ended up with a Mexican Rice leftovers I had in the freezer; 5 minutes and it was nuked. Made a quick salad, and dinner.
Tonight ...
3 meals for Lady for to be delivered in the am
- Marinated roasted pork; grilled cabbage w/bacon and onion; roasted carrots
- Shrimp and tortellini pasta; citrus salad; whole wheat rolls
- Beef and broccoli stir fry over rice; Asian salad
Me: Making a different sesame jalapeno chicken which is grilled - recipe to be posted, it is very easy. On the side a teriyaki type of rice (it will have ginger, garlic, teriyaki of course, carrots and scallions); and a grilled cabbage wedge
Cooking 3 breasts, 2 sesame jalapeno - 1 for tonight, 1 for wed. And, 1 I will poach for later this week.
