Morning, all - happy Saturday! Gorgeous, 87 degree day here, love it! I made bacon wrapped chicken and mushroom orzo last night and I think tonight I will probably toss together a Mexican casserole.

85-87 today, but very sticky, raining ...well drizzling on and off. More off than on, but we may get more later.

Off to dinner we are going to Baci which is Italian but stopping for a drink first at a new restaurant to see what it is like.

I made/making "Loaded Vodka Watermelon" to serve at brunch tomorrow. Recipe submitted by "DarlaMason" that name rings bells back to the end of the 90's. I have always wanted to make one of these & the farmer's market had them going at a good price.

Temp here is 56.8 which is to cold for me.

Stay Warm Nin, love the watermelon ... nice way to start the day :) My friend is bringing me brunch at 6am, working from midnight to 4 tonight, so I will be home and she works at the hospital, so early shift for her. There is a local diner which serves fantastic breakfast and DIRT cheap too. She is picking up 2 omlettes and their hash browns ... YUM. I will provide coffee and company, lol.

I fixed her computer, so she promised me a few brekkies ... LOVE it!

ENJOY tonight Nin, hope you have a great din din! :)

Morning Everyone,

Church it is 6am so you will be having breakfast with your friend. The watermelon has been loading for 24hrs & there is still vodka in the bottle. I understand why the recipe says it takes 2-3 days. I will be serving it a brunch no matter what.

My chili yesterday turned out very nice. I put mangos in it. I thought they would break down but they stayed in cubes. No one could guess the secret ingredient.

Brunch with friends at the house today. I am making Zucchini Vegetable Pasta Bake by Church" plus I am also making "Baked Egg Stuffed Rolls by Church" as they were so good last Sunday. Sides are a caesar salad & a fruit salad. Plus my "loaded watermelon" will be served as the appetizer.

Dinner I have guests again. I am making "Basil Lime Grilled Pork Chops by Luvcookn", new potatoes with chives & parsely & green beans. I will make some homemade bread this morning. Dessert is being brought by the guests.

Today's weather is a cold one, starting out at 43F. The weather man has predicted our winter saying there will be a lot of snow this year starting at the end of November, yeah!

Dinner at Baci was very nice. This place is a true Italian restaurant. I had the mushroom rissoto (sp) with chicken. One of the appetizers was a stuffed deep fried rice ball served with a basil cream sauce. Both were "excellent". The men were ordering the spag with meatballs or the pizzas cooked in a wood oven. As the weather turns colder & outdoor patios are off the list. I can see us all spending more time at this restaurant.

BF did most of the cooking last night - I left everything out for him to prep while I went out to get pick up DD from her friend's house (getting there and back takes almost an hour). Tested out one of the vintage recipes. It was OK - a low carb, simple everyday type chicken with a slight Asian influence. Served with rice and some stir fried snow peas w/red pepper strips.

Might make chicken fried rice out of the leftovers for tonight- not sure yet.

Morning Heather,

Over all the years I have never been able to make a good fried rice dish. Like the ones served in the restaurants. Many dishes I can reproduce but not this one.

Time here is now 7.26am & the temp is still 43F??????????

Morning All!

Nin, my brekkie date arrived at 5:45, I was up. She had to be at work early, so it was a quick breakfast, but nice. This little diner/place only does breakfast and lunch, but they open at 5am for the early workers. They serve a great breakfast and cheap.

Sounds like your dinner was good. I love the fried rice balls, they are really good. I haven't had them in a while.
I'm so happy you enjoyed the egg rolls; and that watermelon sounds absolutely delicious.
And mangoes, I sometimes put them into my white bean chili. I nice sweetness.

We got a bit of rain yesterday which was nice. NOT a lot, but a few nice showers throughout the day, enough to water everything.

Today ...
Usually, I make bread and soup; but I still have 1 container in the freezer, and 1 loaf of bread; so, I'm going to hold off until later this week. I have plenty of other stuff to keep me busy today.

Tonight, something easy. I have leftover zucchini and tomato casserole, so that; and, a ham steak with a brown sugar, bourbon, mustard glaze. Just equal parts of each. Brush on and pan sear or grill. I will grill if it doesn't rain.

I also have to go over to the kitchen to prepare the meal tomorrow for the Lunch group. It helps to get everything done ahead, and since my friends house is so close, it is really easy to just head over anytime

Making a Mexican ragu in the crock pot and then it will be served over cheesy grilled polenta squares.

Morning Church,

Your "baked eggs" are wonderful! I think everyone should try them.

The mangos in the chili were wonderful. They still can't figure out what the secret ingredient was????? I think it makes it sweet but still savory?

Well it looks like you, Heather & I are the early risers (sp).
