Morning All!

Another early morning for me. Lots to do again, and yesterday I just didn't get everything done that I wanted. Heck, I got nearly nothing accomplished, but managed to stay busy the whole day.

Tonight, poker night with da' boys.
I think just 8 of us tonight.

- Hawaiian Burgers (my own recipe on another site) with grilled pineapple, Hawaiian mayo with soy, scallions, garlic, etc; on Kings Hawaiian Rolls - I've already got my burgers and mayo ready to go
- Spicy shrimp (served cold) with a mango dip - both all done
- Sweet potato fries with a garlic aioli - using frozen fries; but the aioli is done
- Dessert: a pound cake brushed with a cinnamon butter and grilled; topped with grilled rum soaked pears, and finished with mascarpone mixed with nuts

The movie tonight is the latest Mission Impossible

Sounds fun Kim!

Once again I am at the mercy of the weather. I have sausage penne pasta on the menu but it's unlikely that will get made. If it doesn't I have no idea, we may end up eating cereal!

Thx Inv, it is a good group. We try for Fri nights, but a few go up north for a few months for work, so now and then we take a 2 month break. Five of them work and or own a construction company and have projects all over the US, remodels of apt complexes. So it is nice they are back in town. That is why I am making everything tonight. My treat. Usually we cook together. Tonight, they just have to grill the burgers. Terry, one of the guys I am sure will bring a dip. He makes the best.

Midday everyone,

Weather continues to be sever here with high humidity.

Dinner party tonight. I am serving ham & pea soup with homemade bread. My chicken has been marinating overnight with fresh herbs from the garden, shallots, "lots" of garlic, balsamic vinegar, grainy mustard & olive oil. These I will grill. I have 3 salads, caesar, potato & pasta. Dessert will be brought by the guests.

My kind of party Nin. I love that you have soup, salads and grilling. That to me is perfect. Comfort food, but still great to make ahead and enjoyable. What a nice dinner.

And if no baking is involved other than bread; I'm a happy gal. Dessert always is the guests responsibility, lol.

Hope the weather cooperates for you. ENJOY!
I hoping for no rain too as we need to grill the burgers.

Thank you Church. You & I feel the same about the sweets table. Now cheese cake I do like & will try.

A number of the guests attending were also at the German restaurant. Where we had the ham & pea soup which they raved about. This recipe says this is the "best"? We will see?

My weather station says it will not rain but outside looks iffy? Plus with the high humidity it could strike at anytime. Next week (starting Sat.) it is to be cool again. I want to open the pool, finish setting up all patios & purchase plants. I do wish it would hurry up & stay above freezing for more then two days.

I'm not working! And, Dan's boys are playing in the final four for CCLA Division II Men's Lacrosse at 7pm (he's going the broadcast), so I'm making a quickie dinner and then camping out with my laptop and headphones. :D

Tonight I'm trying http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/chicke ... an-flavors

Morning everyone,

"Supermoon" tonight starting at 11.35 EST. This will be the biggest & brightest of the year.

Dinner tonight. A group of us are going to a buffet which is a very nice place & the food is excellent. We do not go often as it is a little pricey & many of us do not eat enough to do justice to the price.

Next weekend is Mother's Day. Any plans at this point?

Morning Nin,

Another dry, but warm day, 85ish today, but should be mostly sunny.
Dinner with friends was fun last night - and I kicked a** in poker.

Tonight no dinner. Meeting a couple that I haven't seen in almost a year. She had twins, so that has kept them busy this past year. We are heading to a local seafood shack (by boat) to have a late lunch. I normally don't eat a big lunch, so I am sure I will bring some home that I can have for dinner. Great weather, so should be a nice afternoon.

Nin, have fun tonight. I know what you mean about buffets; I can't eat that much either, but a good buffet can be fun to try all the different items.

And, my telescope is already set up. I may head to the beach to see it; depends how I feel. But out my back yard I should have a pretty good view. It was pretty full last night as well. During a brake from poker, we all took a peek at last nights moon. I tried to get a pic, but they didn't turn out very good.

I couldn't take the cold weather, but I do wish now and then we would have a bit cooler. I remember up north, we couldn't wait until May 31st which was when we usually brought out all the summer items. This year has been such screwy weather, anything goes I guess.

Mothers Day? Is that a holiday? Well, I know it is, my son hasn't grasped the concept of HOLIDAYS. I will be lucky to get a card, but he means well. But growing up Dad was NOT a holiday person either; he takes after Dad in that respect.

In honor of Mom and my Grandma; I will probably cook one of my Mom's favorite meals. A shrimp stir fry with white wine, zucchini, red pepper, mushrooms and arugula tossed with angel hair pasta.
My grandma died on Mothers day; and Mom passed away right before Mothers Day; so that day doesn't set too well with me. But, I will just make dinner for me. I hoping my son can at least stop by, but he has been working 7 days straight, but hopefully.

Have a great weekend!!
