The kraut and sausae sounds great.

I am having crispy baked tilapia, german tomato salad ( cukes, onion, tomato with sour cream/mayo dressing ) and steamed broccoli. I have a few nectarines to finish up and might bake them into a cobbler or crisp.

Karen, ever grill nectarines. They are delicious. I brush with honey, grill; they, top with either ice cream or mascarpone. Even greek yogurt works. You can add OJ, grandmanier or brandy to the topping which is really good. Or, just drizzle over the top.

I'm not too much on sweets; but fruit desserts I love.

Tilapia is on tomorrow menu I think. Inexpensive, easy, and you can do anything with it. I keep it on hand all the time.

Last night home before I leave for a week! :D

I'm making #recipe10980, #recipe9138, and serving it with cottage cheese.

Have fun Felix, where you heading? I know you go up to the lake usually during the summer. Well, where ever it is, have fun and travel safe! A week off sounds wonderful!

I usually head to Tahoe, but I can't afford a vacation this year since I can barely afford to pay my bills. Been off work since December 5 with this stupid shattered foot, and workers' comp only pays about 1/3 of what I usually make.

I'm going to my niece's house, but we'll also be spending a bunch of time at her new house (the sold sign went up Saturday!) where we'll be scraping and painting and cleaning. Her current house is about an hour away, but her new house is less than 10 minutes! We're VERY excited, both by it being close and it being her first owned home! When we're not doing house stuff, we'll be watching SyFy movies (Sharknado 2 is Wednesday night, and they're doing a whole week of fabulously cheesy movies). Then Saturday is my first real craft show. I've done craft shows before, but this is the first juried show I had to submit pictures and apply to get in, and I made it. It's huge, about 300 vendors, and brings people in from four states.

Well, at least it is a vacation. Time off is still time off. I hope you enjoy and relax a bit. And kudos to your neice as well.

Yes, shark week. Mechha shark, Mega shark vs the giant squid with Debbie Gibson; Sharknado 1 and 2. Absolutely cheesy - Dinoshark too, a fave.
Yes, I love all those movies too.

Congrats on the show. You make jewerly, correct? Great job. I did them when I was young growing up through college. Just the MI, IN, OH ones during the summer. I did copper enameling jewerly; also small hotplates, and wall tiles. I still have all my supplies and small kiln. I would love to get back into it. Down here it is so competitive; not sure if I have the time to do it.

Well, good luck, have fun; enjoy the show too. Sounds like a huge show. I remember the last show I did. I was in Ludington, right in a park on the water. Good times. Wishing you lots of luck. Relax too!!

What talented folks.... I love craft shows and homemade items, but not very talented.

I never thought to grill he nectarines, they are still a bit firm and I bet that would be really good. I like mild fish - and tilapia is on of my favorites. If I can get fresh cod off the boat - I'll use it as well.

Sometimes I think a change is the most restful part of a vacation. Have a great time helping your niece. She has a wonderful aunt. Also sorry to hear about your foot. Ouch !

Karen, grilled fruit is delicious. I usually just brush with butter, plain oil, or a little honey; but, you have to watch it with honey. But, you don't cook them long - just a little char, and to warm them up.

Top with ice cream, mascarpone, greek yogurt, fruit (berries), honey, or a vanilla yogurt, really good.

Peach are great stuffed with blue cheese, topped with nuts and honey; as are plumbs.

Mango are great brushed with a lime/honey mix. Then finished with chopped macadamia nuts.

I did a entire platter of grilled fruit for a bday party. served with a berry compote, a vanilla honey yogurt, and flavored whipped cream. They only take a few minutes to grill and really good.

Pears, any stone fruit, mango, papaya, watermelon are my favorites. I also grill avocados and stuff with crab salad; strawberries, cut in half over ice cream.

I'm a fish-aholic; but, tilapia is good. It is inexpensive, yet very mild. A perfect open canvas to add what ever you want. I prefer snapper, cod, flounder, etc; but, but cost purposes; ... definitely something I keep on hand all the time.
I go fishing a lot, so when I have fresh ... or fresh frozen, I will use that; otherwise, tilapia is my go to.

Thanks, Karen! I'm almost back to work (I see the doctor on the 5th, and he's 99% sure he'll release me), but I can tell you on good authority you should never drop a steel plate on your foot like a guillotine. ;) My niece and I are more like sisters; there's only 10 years between us (14 between me and her mom). We hang together a LOT.

Yup, I make jewelry. All beaded and hand done, in classic styles (you will find exactly not one item on stretchy cord, hemp, leather thong, or fish line in my booth). I usually do the show at our local Labor Fest every Labor Day (where I am guaranteed a slot due to my union membership), and one other at an exhibit hall a friend manages. This is a huge, very well-known one, and it was something of a victory just to get in. http://www.holland.org/includes/calenda ... Park/1515/

I've grilled mango before, but nothing else. Sliced thick, then soaked overnight in a balsamic, olive oil and minced chili reduction. Grill about 2-3 minutes per side. Yum! Wouldn't have occurred to me to grill nectarines, though. I'll have to try it.
