Heather, sounds like a very good plan. I am watching the weather reports.

Thanks Church. I was about to post over you. This recipe is on for next weekend.

Surprise! I have to work on the Amway thing again tonight starting at 5pm. So, my dinner will be the leftover Crabby Au Gratin and probably some yogurt. Then I'm heading to a friend's house for a backyard bonfire, providing I'm not dying after work.

Stay safe, everyone who is in Isaac's path! And please, don't wait until the last minute to evacuate if they tell you to. It's better to be stuck in a prepared, boarded-up house than to be stuck in the car on some road somewhere!

BEER CAN CHICKEN DISASTER

Now, I make beer can chicken often, for parties, for myself. NEVER EVER ruined one until tonight.

I didn't eat lunch and was starving; got a late start, but it smelled SOOOOOOO gooooood. Lots of cajun seasoning and golden brown. It had about 20 minutes to go.
PHONE rang. Even worse, ex husband. Nothing serious, but I should of just got rid of him. Well, regarding son, so I talked; during conversation I couldn't go out to grill - because some blonde forgot to put the phone on the chargr.

Well, one of the onions, fell out on the coals and started a fire. IT IS BLACK. It was so pretty just 5 minutes before.

I could of died. Cajun spice, seasoned beer, slow cooked, mesquite on the fire. I had roasted corn and planned baked beans to go with it. Can I say PISSED OFF.

So, plan 2. Salmon, always have that which is now thawing, corn on the cob (market from today) and now coleslaw I think.

I am so mad at myself. I never burn stuff on a grill. Just bad timing I guess.

I did use a blackening seasoning ... but I think this put blackening on a whole new level.

Laugh please, I certainly did

Well 2 am, why sleep. Just got a 5 min thunder storm. Nothing on radar; but it hit.

I can't sleep through anything, so I was up at the first rumble. WIDE awake now. Perfect!

As you can see, beer can chicken was BLACKENED blackened seasoned chicken. Bones saved, meat NOT. Phone call and distractions. OK, so NO chicken for last night or tomorrow.

And, since my poker night got canceled (Issac) I don't have the leftovers from the carnitas either.

So, tomorrow it will be interesting. More than likely, we will have some rain and wind and more on Monday. So, the grill will be out. I don't want to make a whole big batch of the carnita meat since I can't eat it all week.

Well ...

I do intend to make some white bread tomorrow
Otherwise, nothing much.

Dinner, meatballs (freezer stash); but I don't want pasta, so I don't know yet. Maybe some sweet chili sauce; or a swedish meatball type. I have lots of stuff for a big salad...
Or how about a meatball sub with mozz and a side salad.

So, your guess is as good as mine. Meatballs and salad is all I know.

My catering luncheon is cancelled for Monday; back on for Tuesday - Saturday due to the storm. So I have a day off I guess.

I forgot to take my meat out last night and now I am not sure what I will make. I don't know if we will have any issues tonight once the storm hits, so I don't know that I even wan to thaw out meat. Already packed up the grill in the garage, so no grilling until the storm is more clear and we can pull it back out.

Might get some beef to make meatballs and make them this afternoon, easy to heat up if we still have power. The storm this morning looks like it might pass further into the Gulf, which would be great - although they still think we will have power outages here and some flooding. We usually do, so we'll see.

Oh how terrible. I would have not enjoyed the clean up on an empty stomach either. Such a waste of what sounds like should have been a good meal. /comfort

Morning,

Church, I am sorry about your chicken!

As I already posted tonight's dinner will be a 3 cheese pasta with lots of veg. Salad & homemade garlic bread.

Off to see how Issac is doing.

It was literally chicken on fire. Sort of funny ... but oh well.
I did save some of the meat for the kitties; and I am mixing it is with their food. They are happy campers.

Looks like Issac is moving west. This happens, which is why, you just have to keep an eye on things. Didn't move a thing in, but it may get a bit windy tomorrow. Will watch and see. Always prepared in case
