Your mom loves to be difficult, eh? I hate that white plastic bread too. Sorry there isn't anything for you to fix in the house - why do I have a feeling snacks were bought & squirreled away again.Felix4067 wrote:Apparently, I'm not eating. No, that's not true. She bought fresh bread. The cheapest, nastiest, store-brand WHITE bread 79 cents can buy. Which I have always hated and she knows it.
Perhaps I'll see what's in the vending machine when I get to work.

My thought exactly. I love her, but sometimes...gah. Unfortunately, I can't stop at the store until tomorrow after work, as I have a prior commitment for tonight after work. I did find a boxed pasta salad and made that, so I guess it could be worse.HeatherFeather wrote:Your mom loves to be difficult, eh? I hate that white plastic bread too. I've never heard it called plastic bread, but that is EXACTLY it!! And crumbly! It doesn't even stand up to room-temperature butter being spread across it, and it's almost 80 degrees!

Sorry Felix ... I was lucky and my ex was a good shopper. But I have a few friends with roommates or even spouses and they suffer the same. It has to be frustrating.HeatherFeather wrote:My ex used to only want that type of bread and I always hated it on everything except pbj. I am so happy that both my dd and my boyfriend will only each whole grain breads or homemade breads, since that is all I want too.

I hate white bread too. I don't have to eat the most $$ brads; but I do like a nice honey wheat or whole wheat bread for daily; and they I like the good breads or homemade the rest of the time.
The only time I use cheap white bread is for turkey stuffing on Thanksgiving. And I do use 1/2 loaf mixed with other breads. Funny, but it just works; but it is the only time I buy it

Pierogies were great last night - Sauteed in butter, onions and of course sour cream to top it off. NOT low cal, but they were worth it.
I stayed up way too late, felt good this am so I worked out a bit and now I'm paying the price. I should of taken it easy one more day; I'm feeling the 'ick' factor again and I have to work this afternoon and evening; so much for resting a bit.
It has been nice this week with my ladies out of town (on a cruise to AK); especially since I was under the weather. It gave me a break, otherwise I would of had to pass them off on my friend.
Dinner:
I will be at work and the boys are bringing dinner. One of the guys' brother-in-law owns an Italian restaurant, so on his way to work he will pick something up. It is always a surprise; but his BIL usually gives him the specials, salad, garlic bread, etc. It is really good food and I don't have to cook.

Had an amazing Thunderstorm last night, we sure needed; but we are still so low. Cloudy here today, but that can change. I would love another Thunderstorm this afternoon.
Dinner:
Supposed to be going out for Happy Hour with a couple down the street. It was his birthday a few days ago and they want to celebrate. I guess there are going to be a bunch of us. They like Carrabbas, so I'm sure that is what we will do. I'm sure we will just be ordering appetizers and sharing them which is fine with me.

Working 6-11:30 really sucks when it comes to eating dinner.

Re: What's For Dinner?-May 2012
So by the time dinner rolled around, I wasn't really up to much and hadn't really planned what to prepare early enough. I had all the ingredients for a zucchini casserole, so I decided that plus salad was going to be dinner.
I already had all the other ingredients mixed in and cracked open my cans of tomato paste. One was fine, the second one however was missing all of the center of the can. Even if what little was in the can was safe, it wouldn't have been enough for the recipe. I set the can aside to contact the manufacturer later and tried to figure out what to use in place of the thing.
I decided to try some Guy Fieri salsa I had in the fridge - which I am not terribly fond of because it doesn't taste like salsa much to me. I figured it was that or open a whole jar of pasta sauce and then be stuck having to deal with that. I went with the salsa.
It turned out ok but I'd rather it be a side dish like it is supposed to be. Not filling even with the salad.
