I never go out for Chinese, just delivery; but, I may have to look elsewhere.

Well, at least you found a so so place; that isn't too bad HF.
When I tasted that rice I got last delivery; I almost threw it out it was so nothing. It was like a bad pilaf. Well, it cost 4.50, so I wasn't going to toss it. And, so glad I didn't. The end result came out good. I guess you and I will both continue to hunt for a good Chinese place.
We don't eat in for Chinese, we always get take out or delivery. Supposedly Gold Dynasty is very good authentic style Chinese in Sarasota, not sure if that is near you and I don't know if they have delivery. None of the good places in Tampa had delivery - but if you are up there and want a good fix, Ho Ho Choy on Fletcher was very authentic. They have two menus - one all in English, the other all in Chinese.

I think I will have to do a grocery run in the morning - out of milk, etc. I am leaning towards a roast chicken or some kind of marinated, pan sauteed chicken breast dish, with some fresh green veggies for dinner.

HF, Gold Dynasty is pretty good. Probably a4 out of 5 for SRQ standards. They do deliver, but not to my area. They are in Sarasota, but with travel, it takes about 30-40 to get there. Too far for me. It's not the distance, but with all the lights it takes forever.

They are decent. The Yummy House is another good one. Also, just a couple of blocks from Gold Dynasty. Both very good Chinese restaurants.

Gold Dynasty and Yummy House, both have excellent Dim Sum which is a nice change. And Gold Dynasty, has AWESOME fried rice and egg rolls!

Heather, its great to see you get back to cooking! I bet you guys really missed home cooked meals!

Kim, your resurrected rice, sure looked great. All this talk of chinese has me wanting to do a stir fry! I even have the egg roll wrappers in the freezer...and fresh cabbage from the garden. Hmmmmm

We had a stew/soup I made from all my veggies. I cooked the tomatoes, added whatever veggies I had in my fridge, which was lots, green beans, cabbage, fresh potatoes, onions, garlic, celery, peppers, zucchini and I used hamburger for the meat, as it was already defrosted. Added spices and it was delicious. I even through in some of Bea's salsa sauce and that just upped the flavor. Time to make more of that tomorrow, used it all up. Everything from my garden except for the garlic and celery.

I wish I had Chinese delivery available. But if I want it, I have to go to it. We don't even have a Chinese buffet in town that I'm aware of.

We have a chinese buffet, and its pretty good, but they have a whole buffet table of things that include shellfish that I can't have, so its a bummer. Very reasonable for lunch, ridiculous at night, due to the lobster legs, etc...they add to the buffet. I can't even eat that stuff, but they still want to charge an extreme amount in the evenings. I think its like $5.99 for lunch, $14.99 for supper! Or something near that. Great for lunch, but I am hardly home at lunch! Just remembered, they serve frog legs at night too. My daughter ate some and said they are good. I was too chicken to try them.

Ours doesn't deliver either Felix, but its about a mile away, pretty easy to go pick up.

Dis, I bought the slaw mix for the rice; but, I also love to use it in salads too. But, while walking through the store, we found the egg roll wrappers too. So, decided egg rolls this week with egg drop soup. I really wanted to get some pork too for the egg rolls; but, I have chicken and shrimp in the freezer, and really need to use that up first.

I'm about ready to make a pot of that soup too. I have some tomatoes, celery, spuds, carrots and my freezer stash peppers. I may add some of the slaw mix to the soup too. We will see what I come up with. That is probably a Monday or Tuesday plan.

Felix, we do have a buffet here, but it is so so. I met a g/f there for lunch a few months ago. Not much of a buffet person. But, most of the Chinese restaurants do deliver. But, they have a limited range. Most of the good places aren't logistically far, but with all the lights, it just takes forever. Driving in FL is horrible.
I was looking for a new dentist, for a implant, the other day; and was looking within 25 mi. I found one, but when I looked up where he was - It is a good hour+ driving time. One of the down falls where I live.

Morning!

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. ENJOYED a short walk on the beach this am. Just until the sun came up. My knee didn't allow me to go too far. But walking in the sand, and the warm Gulf is good therapy - it's 88 right now.

Leftovers - Greek wrap sandwich; onion rings
- I have a yogurt dip I made for carrots and celery, and need to use it up. It has dill and parsley in it. I think I will add cucumber and make it a tzatziki type of sauce
- I also have some pickled red onions to use up
- And, I have a burger patty, already cooked in the freezer. But, I think I will break it up, add some greek seasoning, olives, and reheat it.
- Wrap in a tortilla with tomato and lettuce
INSTANT SANDWICH

Both of those prices are ridiculously cheap, Dissie! When I work out of town we go to a Chinese buffet that is really good, and doesn't have anything in the way of seafood unless you count one shrimp dish. $8.99 for lunch, $19.99 for dinner. It's not in a big city, it's in a college town. As for what they charge when you can't eat certain items...they can't know that. Everyone pays the same price regardless of which things they eat. Kinda like when my union local had our 100th anniversary party. We charged $50 per ticket, and had an open bar. People who didn't drink thought they shouldn't have to pay as much, but that's just not how it works.

I suspect you meant to say lobster and crab legs, no? Because I laughed right out loud reading "lobster legs". They'd have to be expensive...you'd need 850 of them to make a meal!

Dinner tonight is going to involve parsnips and Brussels sprouts, and quite possibly eggplant. I own all of those things and they'll only keep for so long.

I am still sitting here planning out my grocery trip and menu for tonight and tomorrow. We were out of nearly everything, so earlier this morning I got some take out breakfast from a local deli. They were packed full with people all standing around waiting, plus more outside standing waiting ... in the pouring rain.. I took this as a very good sign. I'd stopped there on a slow day once before just to grab some bagels and French toast for my BF, but today I wanted two full breakfasts to go.

I might normally have left since it was so busy, but they took my order immediately and had it ready in 10 minutes - My BF had a full order of Challah French Toast with bacon, I had a combo breakfast which was 2 scrambled eggs, 1 slice of Challah French toast (which is actually two huge thick pieces), and sausage. Got it home and everything was piping hot, fresh, looked good, and tasted great. Definitely our go-to place for breakfast. We don't get breakfast out very often, but it is nice to know where to go when we do.
