Morning Everyone!

It's COLD!!!!!!! It was nice yesterday. This am, with the NE winds ... it is 61 this am only 70 today. That in my book is chilly. I have my sweats on. I went for a bike ride, and had my long sleeve shirt on too. I know; I'm a whimp.

Dinner ...

Lady #1: Pork medallions with a blackberry glaze (recipe on another site); jasmine rice; wild mushroom saute
(Basically the medallions are seasoned and pan sauteed in butter. The sauce is white wine, blackberry preserves, shallots, and fresh herbs - very easy)

Lady #2: Roast pork loin with apples, onions, sweet potatoes (crock pot); spinach salad with a warm bacon dressing. But not the basic spinach salad. This has pears, onion, and roasted beets.

Me: Since it is chilly tonight, I think that I may switch tonights planned recipe with Wednesday. Wednesday would be warmer and better for grilling. This was planned, http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/salmon ... ennel-slaw with black beans on the side. Instead, I think I will have my lentil soup (freezer stash) and a French dip sandwich.
instead

Gas grill. No gas in the garage plus with cars in there not the best idea with car gas tanks filled. I have been out to feed the animals now I am just going to stay put. I am hoping that this will not be as bad as The Weather Network says but at the moment they are right on point.

We had the cars outside; and the door cracked for ventilation; and our fan on. Also, we were a block home, NO wood. That probably would make a big difference.

Good luck, Ninner! They're not saying we'll be getting much of anything except some rain, and I'm OK with that. Of course, the rain is supposed to start tomorrow, so I'll be coming home from the hospital in it, but I'm very thankful that's all it will be and hoping for the best for those in Sandy's path.

Dinner tonight will be the last I cook for a bit since surgery is in the morning, until I adjust to not being able to walk and some of the pain backs off (and I work my way through the good drugs...I started Lyrica yesterday and it's making me WAY stupid, so I'm a little concerned about what I'll get afterward). I'm making a recipe from F.com called Turkish Chicken Thighs, along with my Lebanese Green Beans and something else...Harvard beets maybe? That could work.

Earlier this morning has been the calm before the storm. Now the winds have started to pick up. Have received calls from the neighbours. The transformers are a different run on the street so one side can have power & the other will not. Plans have now been made for those who "may" lose power, a place to go.

Morning Felix. I was trying to post over you. I see that you are to far West for the storm. Sending postitive thoughts for your surgery!

I will close down the computer when the storm hits.

They've adjusted their predictions...again. Now we're supposed to be getting up to 30 foot waves on Lake Michigan, and a rain/snow mix starting late tonight for a while. Guess she's gonna turn more inland. Batten down the hatches, stay safe, stay warm, and check in when you can, Ninner! I know anything we get is going to be very minimal compared to you and those points east.

Yes "Sandy " has increased in size. Time here 4pm we are just starting to feel the front at 48mile an hour winds. Time expected to hit is 8pm starting at 70 miles per hour & increasing during the night. Why does this alway happen in the dark of night?????? This storm is expected to carry through till Wednesday so I assume it is not moving fast?

The alarms have not gone off in the house but I am sure that will come.

EDIT: garbage collection has now been cancelled for Tues & Wed. Hydro One has brought extra man power into the area from further out of storm areas. I guess I should be expecting outages?

It's actually moving very fast, 28 mph, but will slow down once it is on land. Worse case. But. Little Sandy will cause havoc for lots.

Time 4.50pm. First place to the East of me has lost power "Chatham". That is close enough that I am sure I have eaten lunch there. Hydro One will not go in till Thursday morning when the winds die down to restore.

Funny thing is that it is a full Moon tonight. Rain has now become very heavy & winds are increasing. No alarm in the house yet.
