Morning Everyone!

Another hot and dry day here; we could use a bit of rain, so I don't have to water my plants EVERY SINGLE day.
Work, errands, and hopefully the pool if i get a chance. Typical day here. Sounds boring doesn't it.

Today's Cooking ...

Lady #3: The famous Campbells recipe - http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/saraso ... erole-6495, w/a few changes; spinach/mixed green w/tomato slices; blue cheese stuffed olives; cheese; pickles, and marinated mushrooms to start (relish tray)

Me: Cheesy black bean quesadillas (leftover spicy black beans from Sun); salad w/cucumber, avocado, grilled tomatoes; fruit

Still no voice, but I rarely cough and I feel pretty good in general, so yay!

Tonight is Thursday, which means it's sister date night. BUT, it's also my union local's annual picnic at a park a bit north of here. So, my sister and I are going to that. We're having a pig roast, optional BBQ sauce, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, cornbread and buttermilk biscuits, corn on the cob, and baked beans. With plenty of beer (and sodas or juice).

Sounds wonderful!

We have a company picnic coming up, their annual thing.
Last two years were awful, first year the food was just yucky, and last year it made me sick. Disreputable caterers. They have a third caterer this year but after last year I think I am going to pass. It's for a big company so they have an air show (albeit at a small airport and since the company is aviation related). I think we'll go watch the show and bring our own food this year and just have the pop and such from cans.

TGIF Everyone!

Well, coming towards the end of August; hard to believe. Definitely the 'dog days of summer' here. 94, 95, 97 today; and just plain hot and sticky. Working tonight; but, then 4 days off; but, will probably catch up some work for them from home.

I wanted to go out of town for a couple of days, my bday (tomorrow); but, it's Labor Day, and travel is not a good thing. Neither is boating or the beach - too busy. So, I think lots of pool time will be involved.

Today's Cooking ...

Ladies #1 and #2: Card/Game Night - Creamy tomato bisque; individual chicken pot pies; classic wedge salad with bacon/blue cheese; peach cobbler

Me: Leftover pork (served cold) from Mon; a creamy broccoli/cauliflower salad (new recipe); grilled romaine with the last of my celery salsa; peaches for dessert

Felix, dinner with your sister sounds good. Pig roast; one of my favorites. Sue, company picnics are never easy. And if the caterer isn't good; that is no fun. But, I do enjoy air shows; we have a big one down here, and they are lots of fun.

The picnic was awesome! I have to admit, when it comes to company picnics, my local ranks in the top five of any I've ever attended. Because we work with caterers all the time, we know who to use (and they give us one heck of a good deal), so the food is always amazing. And there's always leftovers, so I got sent home with a huge container of pork and BBQ sauce, a bowl of potato salad, and about a pound of mixed cornbread and biscuits.

Tonight, however, we're eating leftover eggplant lasagna with zucchini-chile-cheddar mash, and I just made some #recipe5778 (red, green, and black grapes were on sale this week).

Glad to hear Felix. Where I used to work; we dealt with caterers all the time too ... you know who to choose; and who to NOT. Nice you got to go home with leftovers too.

Sounds like a good deal. I take it leftover pork and spud salad will be on the menu this weekend :)

Pork and potato salad with cornbread is on my lunch menu (along with a new microwave mug cake to try). I may or may not share any with her before it's gone.

For dinner, I'm making Bacon-Wrapped Chicken Stuffed with Spinach and Ricotta (from Allrecipes), my #recipe5778 again, and my #recipe4676 with fresh beans instead of canned.

Edit:
Or, I'm using canned beans. My fresh beans are perhaps not so fresh any more and are now compost. :?

But, I just learned it's International Bacon Day! I didn't even know that when I planned two dishes with bacon for dinner. :D

Edit again:
I totally missed it... Happy Birthday, Kim! :YMPARTY:
