Did you ever get your cotton candy Felix?

Nope, they never did get around to bringing us any. Usually we get what's left at the end of the last show, but they either sold out or threw it away this year.

I had about 1 1/2 lb. of hamburger in the fridge that HAD to be dealt with. So, I browned it all, put 1/2 in the freezer, and made "SOS" out of the other half. SOS was dinner, over toast. For a side, I did a canned pear 1/2 with a dollop of mayo and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese....a real nostalgia meal  . Anyone else have memories of those pear halves being served in grammar/high school?

Mom would do pear halves with cottage cheese for breakfast.
Or, she you bake them, with a drizzle of caramel sauce and ice cream for dessert.

It would never have occurred to me to put mayonnaise on a pear, or cheddar cheese...certainly not both of them simultaneously. ;) I've often seen cottage cheese served with pears or peaches, but I don't get that, either.

Heading in to work the pre-rig for PBR Bullriding this morning well before dawn (first show is tomorrow night), and I don't know how long I'll have to be there. Dinner will be either leftovers of the casserole or a couple of slices of pizza, depending on if I'm home or not.

Morning!

Drying out here finally. Been a very soggy 3 days.
Easy night here. Lots of work to do; then, having to work tonight.
Leftover pork stew from my freezer stash, served over buttered noodles; fresh fruit or a tomato Feta salad.

Glad you are drying out, Kc. Hope you are feeling better, too :D

I figured the pear/mayo/shredded cheddar would raise an eyebrow. It usually does. But, we were regularly served this in my grade and HS cafeterias. It was never served in my home, but oddly enough, it's a pretty decent combo  It sure beat the heck out of some of the other things we were served. I think we had some really "Award Winning" bad dishes :!: :!: ....especially the pizza.....YUCK!!!

Thx Deepster, and feeling a bit better

The pear/mayo/cheese is interesting. Not sure about that. I never ate much in the cafeteria. Mom packed lunch. Even in high school, I was one of the odd man odd, because I wouldn't eat their food very much.

School food back in my day was so gross.

In HS, usually carried my lunch, too. But, on certain days the cafeteria would be serving something that they did well, and that wasn't much, and I'd eat there then....or just skip lunch altogether. I'd go to the smoking area and smoke away lunch.....now there's another thing that's certainly been LONG unheard of....
