Morning gang,
TGIF

Feel a bit better today, but still fighting a cold. It hasn't got it's act together quite yet.

Ladies #1 and #2: Out celebrating a friends B'day

Me: g/f over for dinner, we thought about going out, but decided just to stay in.
Cooking my brisket in beer (crock pot), already simmering. Broccoli slaw and boiled baby reds with parsley butter.

For those of you expecting the oppressive heat wave this weekend, stay inside and try to stay cool

I got out of having to work today! It would have been outside, and I would have died. Now I can stay home and die, but at least I can do it in front of a fan. :D

I'm doing Crab-Stuffed Cucumbers, making them as boats rather than cutting crosswise for appetizers. And serving some of the salads on the side, probably the shrimp (it seems logical) and the kidney bean. And I've got two pieces of fresh raspberry pie left, so we'll be having dessert.

Well, I guess stroganoff and asparagus. Heat index has hit 118, hopefully it will cool off quickly when the sun goes down. I went out to get groceries and it was hard to even breathe. Inside for me!

Morning All!

D - that is just flippin' HOT. I know you and I both like heat, but that is just too much
FL, has actually been quite enjoyable this last week and even the forecast for next week too. STRANGE

California Party for a friend tonight. He is moving to CA for a great job opportunity - so six of us have got together and throwing him a going away party. About 24 of us, and it is at his developments club house, so easy clean up. 3 of the six are coming over this am to help cook and the other 3 will be cooking at the club house this afternoon. Each of us are responsible for 2 dishes; then others offered to pitch in a buy the wine, beer, etc. Right now the boys are at the grocery store.

The menu is all California style food:
Appies - Tri Tip on skewers w/spicy chili southwest dip, proscuitto and fig pizza cut in wedges, dates stuffed with almonds and wrapped in bacon; vegetable tray w/cheese, crackers and dips

Salads - Greens w/artichokes, mushrooms and a white wine apricot vinaigrette, wine country rice and grape salad, sourdough bread

Dinner - Cioppino, roast chicken and olives

Dessert and Drinks - California beer, plenty of wine, blueberry mojitos, apple raisin tarts, and a small bag of toasted almond bark for everyone to take home
------------------------------------------------
Time to cook!

Morning,

The power outages continue. The village reconstruction is to be finished by July 7th for the PGA. I can't wait till this is all over as it has been going on since March.

The weather is well above 100F during the day & will continue into the end of next week. I have the A/C on & miss not having the windows open.

Dd & friends are now here & my days are full. Tonight is a BBQ at a friends home. I am taking salmon salad, chicken salad & a hot Mexican chicken rice dish.

The long weekend is here for Canada so lots of activities available. Happy 4th of July to the USA.

The July 1st New Thread. I am having problems finding RecipeZazz server? I can't believe that June is already gone?

For Friday June 30th.

Grills on tonight, were having potato packets (making on the grill). T-bone steaks and a layered salad I just saw here on Recipezazz. A few drinks later in the evening enjoyed outside. Have a great weekend and long weekend to all the Canadians here! :)

Yikes, Ninner! You're even hotter than we are! At least we're hanging in the mid-90s for the most part. I miss having the windows open, too, though...we've discovered that even though we don't have A/C, if we keep the house shut up during the heat of the day and only open the windows at night it keeps it at least under control in here.

Glad you're getting to spend more time with your daughter!

Dinner tonight will be leftover orange chicken asparagus stir-fry and some rice I just discovered behind my array of salads. Won't be too bad, since I'm just reheating in the microwave. We never ate the pie last night, so that'll be dessert.

The current temp is 106 degrees so to avoid heating up the house too much, we are having; BLT's with fresh sweet corn. For dessert, frozen yogurt.

It's too hot to eat! Gah. Our humidity is 70% - heat index is 115. I bet we hit 120 today. We have a free night, Rhett is at the kennel until Monday. So going out tonight, spending the night on the island tomorrow night = no cooking until Monday!

Home at last. California Party was a success, everyone happy and almost everything was scarfed up, lol. NOT much of anything left. One of the guys took 2 plates for his wife and son who couldn't make it, and another for their husband who couldn't come. Otherwise, that pretty much took care of things. Everyone loved the CA theme and it was lots of fun. My friend and his brother leave tomorrow night. Driving at night to avoid traffic. They are driving to large u-Hauls. Everyone was great helping, cooking, and also chipping in cost wise. A success; but after being up at 4 and cooking most of the day ... then WAY WAY too much wine - I'm exhausted, but can't sleep. The story of my life ... :? :o :?
