I want comfort food. Mom can't have carbs. :? Total loss for ideas here. Probably something with chicken.

MaMere wrote:Denise, we bought a steak about a month ago, as I really wanted a big hunka beef. Hubby and I shared it (it cost 35) it was "natural beef" allowed to roam free in pastures, no garbage fed, no steroids. It was melt in your mouth, the VERY best piece of steak I have ever had in my life! Well worth the price imho.
Well, I'm guessing this was an 8 ounce steak, so $40 per pound. I think not  And while it was really good, it was no better than the Porterhouse I buy on sale for 7.99 per pound. Ridiculous, really.

Porterhouse is my go to when I want a really good steak! Usually for a special dinner for the two of us to enjoy when we don't feel like going out and dealing with the crowds.
Anyone like Black Diamond steak?

Steaks have become very expensive here. So what I do now is wait for prime rib to come on special. I have the butcher cut it to make Delmonico Steaks which is Dh's favorite.

Well, that was an adventure. The top heating element in the oven really is truly broken, a fact which I discovered ten minutes after I put the pork steaks under the broiler. Which was ten minutes after we were supposed to eat because my mother got home 90 minutes later than she said she was going to.

So. Baked pork steaks (yeah, they were pretty awful) with frozen peas and carrots and frozen broccoli in cheese sauce. All served more than an hour after we were supposed to eat.

I'm not cooking tomorrow.

Both you & Church are having oven problems. Hopefully this will be short lived?

Another easy night here. We had fire roasted pepper and tomato soup. Campbells in the carton. I had some Italian bread in the freezer so I made ham and grilled cheese sandwiches with that.

Morning everyone,

I will be making Chili today & will add a can of non spiced pumpkin. I read an article in the newspaper that said it add nutritional value, thickness & texture, That you do not taste the pumpkin.

Early here & the tamp is above freezing which is appreciated.

Morning Laury,

That sounds yummy! Just waiting for the sun to come up. The raccoons have gotten in to the Blue Box & I need to go clean it up as it is garbage day.

Church, come out, come out, wherever you are? lol.
