I'm from Texas :) but I'll gladly be an honorary Canadian!

Either place, though, that's quite a distance. I can't begin to tell you the life lessons I learned when I had my first roommate. We met each other the day I moved into the dorm and couldn't have been different in habit, diet, interests, and friends; yet we got along and learned how to resolve our differences. The same thing happened to my son with a dorm matched roommate. I'm a much better person for it -- more tolerant, a better listener, more organized, more focused. The next year has much in store for the two of you, Ninner.

Morning Everyone,

Mary, I did know a member by the same name, a Canadian. She worked for the company that ran the hovercraft to Rochester from here. They are no longer in business. I did have the pleasure of using their service.

Well tears were shed at 6pm here. I think Dh was thinking he would be asked to take her to the airport. Meaning he would get to take his new toy out but The Boy was doing the trip. So after their departure we went to The Ship for dinner in the new toy so Dh was happy. Always like this place. A young chef that does a very good job with fish. Last nights special was crab cakes which I enjoyed.

Today it will be Home Alone as Dh is headed for Ohio in the next hour. I do not know what is in Ohio but he spends a great amount of time there? It is clean out the frig day as tomorrow is garbage day. So dinner will be whatever I can forage from there?

Morning Nin, 5am here, well 6am right now, but up since 5.

My oven broke last night, so I had to throw away 2 slabs of ribs and chicken which pissed me off. I hit walmart this am and picked up more ribs that I will cook with the reserved marinade which originally was to be used as a sauce. And some of the chicken, 1/2 the pkg, I had planned to make on the grill not in the oven, so I didn't loose all of it. And my mushroom bread is all ready to be baked and wrapped in foil so it would be a shame not to make it.

So, I guess tonight will be my ribs, chicken, broccoli slaw and mushroom bread from last night; but with new ribs done on the grill along with the chicken; unless they can get my oven fixed today. I think it is the element because the stove portion still works.

I would ate my soup last night, but it wasn't quite done. But that at least will be nice for soup.

Tonight:
Lady #1 and Lady #2: http://www.food.com/recipe/not-so-itali ... ls-385798; a big Italian salad; crusty bread with anchovy butter.
Everything will have to be prepared on the grill, and baked at their house.

Me: Soup; olive spread (new recipe) w/baguettes (leftover soup will be froze)
Soup for lunch and the olive spread will be another day
---------------------

Hopefully, my oven will be fixed soon. I can use the grill for pretty much anything and I really don't need the oven until Friday

Nin, glad you had a nice dinner. And, just keep yourself busy and the empty house won't seem so bad. When I got divorced my son went with my ex at that time. I went from my house with my ex, my son and usually 1-2 of his friends to just me. It was strange, but I just kept myself busy.

Morning Church,

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. I know so many of you have been through this. Yesterday The Boy was going on about how it had only been two months that Dd had been gone which is correct. The Boy said, how much longer it felt. Well I gave him a smack & said it felt longer for me as he had visited her twice for 10 day periods each time. Then Dh was saying he did not wish me to be upset again like when she left the 1st time. So I smacked him also & told him not to tell me how I should feel or behave. So yes this place is rocking, lol.

Just back from Dd's apartment (down the stairs). I think I will rent this out to a Korean/Japanese female student. My Uncle now elderly & on his own in England has 3 Japanese female students living with him. When I phone there they are so excited to hear from me & the fact Canada is calling. Both are a very well respected culture plus the fact I will be taught to make some nice meals.

I am sorry to hear about your oven. I wish we lived closer as Dh could fix this for you at just the cost of the item.

You know I do not mine solitude in fact there are times that I would not mind blowing a few people in my home off the planet. But today solitude is not feeling so good. I am sorry I am whining! I just had this plan. Dd would come home to do her laundry because it is cheap. I would make casseroles for her to take home & feed her a decent meal. I would go & visit her in her home at the bottom of the mountain. Help to furnish new home because I have more then I need here.

The most embarrassing thing about this is that I had a big mouth about Dd never leaving. Now it is a fact & I have egg on my face.

Hmm...dinner....I think I will grill some mesquite chicken and have a huge salad. Sounds very good!

Goodness, DH grilled those steaks last night and they were delicious! You could actually see the marbling in these steaks. I have stopped buying NY or KC Strips because there is no marbling and they are just kinda blah. I didn't have a lot of confidence in a frozen steak, but they were very good.

OMG  I just checked the price of those steaks. HOLY COW! $119 for 4 steaks. My gosh, it should have cooked itself, gave me a massage and then cleaned the kitchen for that price!

Denise, we bought a steak about a month ago, as I really wanted a big hunka beef. Hubby and I shared it (it cost 35) it was "natural beef" allowed to roam free in pastures, no garbage fed, no steroids. It was melt in your mouth, the VERY best piece of steak I have ever had in my life! Well worth the price imho.

I had a Hurricane and he had beer. I have developed a fondness for those Hurricanes! ;)
Tonight we are having Roast Chicken and Creamy Mashed Potatoes with Peas! Eating lighter so no gravy. Watching our middles today.... :o
