FRI ...

Ladies #1 and #2 decided to have a small get-together. Sort of last minute, but they are so easy, I don't mind.
- http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/carawa ... enderloins, same as was planning to make for myself, but ended up just grilling 1 and saving the other for this recipe
- Sauteed red and green cabbage with onions and a lite butter vinegar sauce
- Roasted red potatoes
- Dessert, pumpkin bread pudding

Me: No poker night, but 2 guys are stopping over for a light dinner before they head to work (they own a charter business; and they are taking a group out night fishing). Grilled pizzas and a big salad. Nothing fancy. A bit chilly tonight, so sending them so hot spiced cider and a batch of cookies for the them and the customers.

Morning Church! Yes "Jamie's Diners" is one in my Cart at Amazon. Keep waiting for the price to come down but it just keeps going up. "Night fishing" sounds like fun. Trying to get more accomplished today. On my 3rd load of laundry before I go out to do errands. It is snowing here again. Ti's the season.

I have some farmer's sausage that I thought I might make a pasta dish. Or just grill & make scalloped potatoes by French Tart.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I love the scalloped and grilled. That would be comfort food to me. More SNOW, yuck! I know, it is December ... It's mid 70's, sunny and breezy ... sorry.

Buffalo chicken sandwiches and beer and whatever we get into  Had wine and the fire pit last night, I think we might have to get into a Rummy tournament tonight

Since the rain that was coming down when I came home last night apparently transitioned to snow later on and there's about 1/2 inch in my yard...I found some beef stew in the freezer. That's really all I want at this point.

Felix, one of my favorites is stew meat slow cooked with onions, red wine, broth and herbs, served over rice. Maybe some peas or shrooms. I love that for cold days and so easy. My son used to beg me to make that.

I usually marinate the meat in red wine and herbs, then brown it before adding stock, onions, carrots, potatoes, celery, and whatever other vegetables sound good. Often turnips and parsnips, sometimes rutabaga. Definitely slow-simmered on the back burner for at least a whole day.

Delish Felix, how can you go wrong with that?

I got a box of breaded chicken burgers on sale last week, so it's that and frozen oven fries.

Cold and wet here today, so have a pot of chili on! Will make some corn bread to go with it. Been all over town looking of course cornmeal (polenta); finally found! Already planning for left overs . . . chili over crispy polenta. I'm a polenta kick!

We went back up to the mountains this week to close up the house for the winter. Stayed an extra night in beautiful downtown Winsow, AZ  Stayed at the La Posada Inn, an inn that was built in the 20's for railroad guest . . . a really neat place, we stayed in the Clark Gable room (they had lots of stars from the 20's and 30's stay there). ANYWAY, they have this fabulous restaurant . . . The Turquoise Room (famous chef from LAX, John Stewart) enjoyed a wonderful polenta/egg/cheese/chilies dish, bought the cookbook so plan to duplicate.
