Morning and Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a great NY's Eve. I went to a friends party, close by; so no driving or worrying about enjoying 1 too many cocktails, lol.
It was a great time; and, since we grilled almost everything - it was nice that the weather cooperated.

We watched the ball come down of course in Times Square; but, Sarasota also has their version of the ball ... it's a pineapple. So, we had both on 2 TV's in the house.

Dinner ...
Lady #2: Big platter of deli meats - antipasta style, gazpacho, bread/cracker basket; vegetable platter and cheese platter with chutney; and a bottle of champagne. They have dessert.

Me: An open house late afternoon; so probably not too hungry for dinner. They always have a turkey, ham, mac and cheese; and southern green beans. Other salads, dips, etc.

If my friend stops by later; I have some kielbasa I could grill and cut up as a snack w/BBQ sauce or mustard as a dip. And, If he is really hungry; I always have some pub cheese, dip, or crackers on hand.

For our New Year's dinner we are having a beauteous beef pot pie made with Merlot, onions and mushrooms and homemade crispy crust. Also making scalloped potatoes with double smoked cheddar and a wee bit of blue cheese (by request) and steamed Nantes carrots. I am taking this meal to a friends home as they are not able to cook much anymore. And of course...the Champagne!

Happy New Year! :D

What a nice thing to do Luvcookn; and, dinner sounds amazing! Got to have the champagne.
I had mine this am. A small half craft - mimosas, tradition.

We went out for Indian earlier and I had goat curry among other things.
For supper much lighter with a low carb paprika chicken soup.

We had porkchops, pan seared with an asian type sauce using hoisin, some cracked pepper vinaigrette and potato salad and Bea's Baked Beans in Coffee. Very nice supper, we all loved it.

Morning ...

Sue, not sure about goat curry; but, paprika soup sounds really good.
Dis, dinner sounds great.
I went to my friends open house; lots of good food, it was nice.
Last night my friend stopped; did end up grilling some sausage for a snack. And, he finished off my spinach dip. I nibbled a bit as well; although pretty full from earlier.

Tonight:
Friends in town on vacation are stopping by for a couple of beers and appies. I'll pick up shrimp, oysters (they love); and, make artichoke dip.

Dinner ... I'm making turkey soup using all the broth I made last week. One (1) jar of soup to my neighbors (they donated their turkey carcass); a bowl for me, and the rest for the freezer. A salad on the side.

Morning!

Well, my friends showed up yesterday afternoon; enjoyed appies and drinks, and the kids in the pool. TOO cold from me, but they are from MN; so, warm for them.
They wanted to take me out for dinner; but, everyone was so relaxed, we grilled. Their Mom and I did a quick trip to the store for steak and spuds; I had plenty of salad. Luckily my store is literally 5 minutes away.
Opened a good bottle of wine, and sat by the pool.

Today, cooking brunch for Ladies #1 and #2 families this am; before they head to the airport.

Me: I did make my chicken soup yesterday; so, that and a salad for dinner.

HaPpY New Year ol' friends!

I hope my infrequent drop-ins, are ok. Life keeps getting in the way of my being as active as I would like to be.
We are 99% done with our remodeling (moved in August 8) and truly love our new home.

We had a fabulous Christmas dinner, Family Christmas buffet and NYE dinner. Life is good!

Tonight I am taking it easy. I fried up a bunch of bacon and it's BLTs! I'll ramp it up again tomorrow for a fine Sunday night dining experience. Kids go back to school on Monday. :D
