The weekend was fun! We didn't get the traffic we were expecting (the venue is on the back side of a strip mall, and the car show is on the front side), but we had a good time hanging out together for a couple of days. Plus, I wasn't home.

I wanted to make eggplant lasagna tonight, but my summer squash, zucchini, and tomatoes insist I'm making two other things instead. Zucchini Chile-Cheddar Mash from Eating Well, and Pressed Chicken with Yellow Squash & Tomatoes from Erin's Food Files. I've also still got a couple of salads that are nearing their death, so I'll add one of those on the side.

I'm in allergy hell and can't taste anything anyway. Our pollen count is supposed to be off the chart until Wednesday, I haven't had a voice since about 10pm Friday, and I can't breathe. Stupid ragweed!!!

So sorry about the allergies, I sneeze constantly in the spring.

Well - my DH cleaned up one of the flower beds .... I went out and he had pulled up EVERYTHING ! My bed of columbine is all gone. He said it looked weedy and it had to go. He could have cut it down, or mulched it over - but with the roots gone ... it is by by plants.

Kine of a bad end to an otherwose lovely day ( he doesn't see what he did wrong and is now in a snit ).

We went hiking in a place called world's end in Hingham Mass. Its an area owned by a private group called the Trustees of the Reservation. They own about 100 conservation properties across the state.

Came home and had leftover turkey with lots of steamed veggies dressed with some curry sauce. Also had a tomato salad with cucumber, onion and a mayo dill dressing.

Big week this week - so going in at 6:00 AM tomorrow.

Morning,

Felix, glad you had a nice weekend. But, so sorry about your allergies. One of my best friend suffers horribly; and, I know how miserable he is. Hope it starts to get better for you.

Karen, nice weekend; despite the flower incident. Men should never be allowed in the garden or flower beds - based on personal experience. My ex would just pull want he didn't like; or cut it to the ground. He was banished from any of my flower beds permanently. But, it sounded like you had a nice end to the weekend.

I had fun at the art open house; nice time. Then, a simple tuna melt for dinner; as I had a bunch of appies late.

Today ...
Ladies #1 and #2: Grilled Italian pork tenderloin; chilled roasted beets w/mustard vinaigrette; creamy cheesy pasta; melon salad

Me: Grilled Italian Pork tenderloin; sauteed squash; parmesan roasted potatoes; fruit for dessert

Karen, I'm sorry about your columbine! We have some, and I love it.

Woke up this morning sans voice for the third day...should be back tomorrow or the next if it runs true to normal course, and then it won't be until at least hockey season before I can really breathe even with meds. Plus my sides hurt from coughing. I. HATE. RAGWEED!! But, point of interest, that's where my melon allergy comes from as they're in the same family. If I get near honeydew or cantaloupe (muskmelon as I always knew it), I break out in hives wherever it touches me - which is a special treat if I eat something even just its juice got on.

Tonight I'm hoping to make the eggplant lasagna (from Dlife.com), but we'll see. I feel like death on a stick.

Ugh Felix! I can't imagine being allergic to melons. Infact, I don't think I have heard of that before. Allergies are the pits! Hope you feel better soon.

We are having BLT's. Have to use up more tomatoes. We all love BLT's!

Who doesn't love BLT's? Serious, you aren't human is you don't  :o
Perfect way to enjoy summer maters.

Dis, I know you can't eat shrimp; my Mom developed it for lobster late in life; but not shrimp; strange. She loved lobster too. Melon, haven't heard of that before, but - lots of allergies out there. Melon would be very hard for me. Felix, sorry to hear that.

It's funny...people always feel so bad for me, but even the thought of eating it makes me cringe. I think it was that trip to the ER when I was five after eating a piece of muskmelon for dinner that ruined any curiosity for me. So really, I don't even know what I'm supposed to be missing out on. I can eat watermelon, because although they're all melons they're not in the same genetic family. But even smelling the others tends to turn me a little green around the gills (although that's a mental association rather than the allergy).

I do know it didn't decrease with age. Twice in the last few years I've eaten something that melon juice touched (once was a fork, once was other fruit cut on the same board with the same knife), and had to make an emergency run to the store for Benadryl. Hives are beyond evil when they're on the inside of your throat! BUT, unlike a peanut or shellfish allergy it won't kill me, so no need to carry an Epipen. Benadryl has always fixed it. Plus, I am fanatical about avoiding it, asking what garnishes are used and NEVER eating fruit salad (or most cut fresh fruit) I didn't see prepared.

Morning Everyone!

Worked midnights; so, a bit tired - but Kitties will not let me sleep. Actually, I have lots of computer work; and, personal work to catch up on.

Felix, I don't blame you; I think I wouldn't be too fond of the smell either. At least as you said, not life threatening - better to be safe.

I carry an epi for an allergy to fire ants; I was bit once and in the hospital. Since, I have been bit hundreds of times and no reaction; but ... I still have my pen in case. I remembered not be able to breath, and hives all over; HORRIBLE!

Karen, BLT, yeah; that is popular these days - but definitely a good choice.

Today ...
A bit of MORE ENDLESS yard work, working on my stained glass; and, maybe some sleep.

Lady #3: Grilled Italian pork tenderloin; roasted chilled beets w/mustard vinaigrette; creamy parmesan pasta; fruit

Me: http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/pan-sa ... alsa-13966 (using mangrove snapper I caught last week); a box of roasted red pepper quinoa (Near East brand); and, a creamy cucumber salad (dill, sour cream, scallions)
