I think I would burst into a panic mode if I ever used one of those although the new ones are relatively safe to use and make some great tasting food in little time

that's a great question I've always wondered about that, many recipes call for oatmeal I just use what the recipe says to use I've used both though with success

I do freeze the blocks with success Wow! Thanks for your comment. I NEVER would have thought to freeze blocks of cream cheese. that's great it can be frozen I do freeze the blocks with success but I wasn't sure about the cooking cream, I'll stick it in the freezer now, thanks for your help!
