Re: ISO Kid Friendly low cal/low fat recipes

This question is difficult. First off, don't suspect fat is the issue. Fat doesn't necessarily make you fat. Too much is totally unhealthy for reasons of bad cholesterol and the like and should be kept to a minimum. The big culprit is processed sugars. Take a look at the sugar intake. Especially hig...

Re: Green Bell Peppers - I have a LOT.

I know this is way too late, but if your in the same situation next year, Just bring the peppers to the bake sale. I am pretty sure the bake sale police won't mind the selling of fresh home grown veggies to those of us not blessed with garden space.

Recipe posting

Is there a primer or other instructions on how to properly post a recipe? I tried to wing it and when I clicked on the "Preview" button I got the good old "Hmmmmm thinking about it swirly thing" for over an hour. I gave up and closed the page.

Re: Baking with soft tub margarine

One thing to remember is that what the food companies do to make "soft" butter, margarine, cheese etc. is to whip in water. (and charge you a boatload of money to do it) depending on how much you use you may need to adjust your recipe accordingly.

Re: Butternut Squash

The squash was a hit! The Nor' Easter we had up here in Maine for Thanksgiving caused me to miss the festivities. Fortunately I was able to send along the squash beforehand. The favorable reviews from my family have been coming in via text and email. That said, I will try to bodge together a workabl...

Re: Men on Zaaz?

Contrary to popular belief, I am a guy, so count me in too. Isabella is my Maine Coon cat. I am just her can opener and chief food dispenser.

Re: The Thanksgiving Dinner Test (Fun Quiz )

I plead the 5th amendment. I refuse to do or say anything that will incriminate myself.
That said, I would eat any of the options proffered. I would NOT cook and serve most to my family who expect the "Tradition".

Re: Butternut Squash

Thanx for your rapid replies. We all seem to be thinking alike on this, so I am going to give it a shot. I plan on roasting the squash whole and then using the flesh afterwards. I will judge on the amount (and type) of sweetener I use based on the flavor after roasting. Butter is a must, but the amo...

Butternut Squash

Hi Folks, Anyone have any opinion or experience using 5 Spice Powder with butternut squash? I have been tasked with making the squash for Thanksgiving and I do not have any Allspice on hand (sadly, I really can't afford to buy some at this time) and I am considering using 5 spice as a substitute. Th...
