What's for dinner Jan 20th through Jan 31st

Post by Kchurchill5 » Sun Jan 20, 2013 7:48 am

Well, just in case the lost thread "What's For Dinner - January 2013" doesn't show up I thought I would at least start something.

Nin, if you are up and about - What happened to the Jan thread? It disappeared last night. Hope you are feeling better.

Dinner: Cube steak, seared and simmered in broth until tender
On the side - Recipe from another site. Kitten has a recipe here, but you can't access it. Egg noodles with cabbage, bacon and peas. I still have a little cabbage left, and bacon as well; so perfect way to use things up. And, MORE fresh tomato slices

Very possibly meatloaf tonight, or possibly homemade pizza. I have to get to the store for the ground beef to make the meatloaf, so it will depend on the price.

We had pasta shells with meatballs in vodka sauce last night.

Sounds like a great combination! So good that I'll make a trip to the store just for some cabbage. :)

It is really good Mary, saute bacon, then a bit of onion, cabbage, a little broth to cook and toss with noodles and peas. Very basic, but really delicious. My Grandma and Mom used to serve it with a pork roast or roast chicken.

As a matter of fact, I was planning pork chops, and this sounds great with them. No home grown tomatoes at my house, but store bought will do and sound good too.

Sounds like a plan! I wish I could send you some tomatoes ... I have bowls of them, lol.

We had buffalo wings and fries.
My rash is getting better. The prescription strength cortisone and prednisone are helping so much!

Someone asked about detergents and soaps. I tried changing to no perfumes or dyes. It didn't help. Have an appointment with a dermatologist on Feb 8th. But if this round "gets" it fixed, might not keep the appt. It sure seems to be helping using the eucerin cream.

Morning Everyone!
Rise and Shine

How is it Monday already? Geeze. Well Baltimore and San Fran, I'm happy!

Today's cooking ...

A new soup recipe. A creamy butternut squash (since I have one to use up); and kale soup (plenty of kale from the garden), and a few extra ingredients. Should be good

Did, 3 jars of yellow tomato sauce yesterday; in the freezer. Today, roasting about 6 cups of cherry tomatoes; then freezing them. I may have some this week on a sandwich or with dinner; but the rest will be frozen. Perfect for sauces, in ravioli, over fresh grilled fish, lots of things to use them for.

Lady #1 and Lady #2: Fried catfish (I will use this as a base - http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/fried-catfish), added cayenne to the cornmeal along with a little flour, and then a little hot sauce to the egg; collard greens; cheese grits (recipe from another site); tomato salad

Me: Work, I think the guys said they were bringing Chinese. Evening shift, not midnight at least. Bean soup from the other night is lunch.
