When we make chili, we always make a huge pot. DH likes to fry eggs the next morning and put chili and cheese over his eggs. Image

That sounds like a Power Breakfast, Dissie! The kind that your DH could "plow the Back 40!"

Choco: my 41 year old chili recipe is a bit more liquid then solid, as your addition of cornmeal would suggest. It is NOT soup, but it certainly has a more liquid base, which I adore. I've had chili, at restaurants, that was so thick it was bordering on porridge...it was not a pleasant experience.

My fave part of eating chili is taking my last bit of cornbread and sopping up the last drops of chili broth with it, then popping it into my mouth! Mmmmmmm!Image

This is the only one we make, I absolutely adore it. This is Dave's recipe, he is the one who makes it and it is spicy, so we don't make it until it's 15 degrees :D We eat it with very sharp cheddar and saltines, lots of beer.

Denise, no wonder its hot with a habanero in it! :o

It sounds good! I have tried beer in chili before...maybe it wasn't the right brand! I would rather drink it on the side!

I don't think there is a living soul who doesn't love chili!!!! On eggs? Sounds good to me!!! Yum!
I always make a huge batch too! I love it on top of fritoes or corn taco shells crushed! Mmmm...yummy!!!
In a bowl alone I like it with cheese, onions, and sour cream!!!! Oh my it is so good!
No more crackers for me with it, but that's no biggie as far as I am concerned.
I have one recipe that is beanless and one that has three different beans and one with just chili beans. Then my favorite is my green chili stew!!! Secret ingredient is tequila!!!!
I use my own roasted chilis and jalapenos!!! Pssst! H-O-T!!!!! :D
Will kill the common cold faster than chicken soup!

my chili is med heat...lots of chili beans, onions(in it!) and ground round. its the kind of chili you can put a spoon in, and it won't fall.
i like mine plain, hubby likes a bit of hot sauce, shredded cheddar (only) on it, with a side of cornbread (and I make that with green chilies in it)
