I ended up with Steak & Shake, since I got to the bar after the food ran out but before football was over ( HUGE wins for both Michigan and Alabama today!). That actually works for me, although now it's barely 9pm and I am definitely ready for bed.

Morning,

Serving brunch at noon. "Baked Egg Stuffed Rolls by Church", new potatoes smashed with herbs from the garden. I will fry these prior to serving. Fruit salad & mixed garden salad plus tomato pie.

Yesterdays BBQ was very nice. Perfect fall dinner. Today's weather will be the same but a couple of degrees warmer. No rain expected till Tues.
Still dark here & I can tell I have overnight guest by the number of shoes at the door.

Morning Nin, enjoy your dad with the kids. Sounds like a nice BBQ yesterday ... Fall here is December, LOL. I wish it was a bit cooler here.

Just household stuff to day, nothing important. Laundry, cleaning, etc.
Planned soup and bread today, and honestly don't feel like it.

So, I will reorganize my dinner for this week and start with a pasta dinner tonight, with artichokes, fresh and sun dried tomatoes, olives, and cannellini beans, and basil. Veggie night. Just in a light broth. NO heavy cream. Probably garnish with Feta. Something easy and light.

Everyone have a great Sunday!! Football is on at 1:00, so that will definitely be on in my house.

Since the Lions don't play until tonight, we're having leftover steak stir-fry over brown rice. After which I will decide if I can afford to go out to watch the game or if it's worth the hassle to argue with her about the TV.

Edit:
Arguing it is, not by my choice. NOT ONE of the four taxi drivers I know is working tonight. And since I live in taxi Siberia, it takes an average of 60 minutes from the time I call until one arrives, and it runs just over $20 one-way to get downtown.

Pasta water is on, just waiting for the thing to come to a boil so I can get on with my Fettucine Alfredo. Garlic bread waiting to go in the oven, salad on the side.

Might make some chocolate ice cream tonight if I get around to it. There is still ice cream in the freezer from last week that needs to get eaten up though, plus chocolate pudding that I made last night too.

Morning All, Happy Monday!

Where did the weekend go? Never enough time is there?

Worked midnights last night 12-5, so today I have the day off, but I have to work midnights again tonight.

Today ...

Catered Lunch: Reuben sandwiches; either turkey or corned beef with homemade kraut, pickled onions, thousand island and swiss on marbled rye. Celery and mushroom salad; simple potato salad with a mustard white wine vinaigrette

Ladies #1 and #2: A new chicken marsala recipe to be posted today, served over pasta; grilled peach salad

Me: Steak pizza, steak leftovers, fresh tomato slices, fresh mozzarella, mushrooms, and onions

Morning,

Weather continues to be Fall like with rain expected tomorrow.

I think I will make a Shepards pie as I owe Church a portion, comfort food with lots of veg & a little meat. I have already made the topping of mashed potatoes adding parsely & chives from the garden. I have some rice I cooked yesterday so that is headed for a fried rice dish. I wonder what else is hiding in the frig? I know that I have "lots" of greens for salads & leftover fresh pasta still to be cooked.

Kids want me to go to the Falls by the border to have dinner at the Brazilian restaurant. I will see what time they end up leaving as all are working today.

The beginning of the end...these are my last few days off before work picks up ridiculously busy again, so I'm cooking while I can. Today is all about cleaning and laundry and maybe going to the library, then with any luck at all Dan won't be busy and we'll go watch the Broncos-Falcons game. It's not exactly cold yet, but starting today we're supposed to have well below normal temperatures through the weekend, with rain starting tonight through tomorrow.

Dinner is born of necessity, since bell peppers in all colours but green were on sale last week and my mother grossly overestimated how many I needed for the steak stir-fry. So I'm making a version of Sausage and Peppers, sans asparagus, yellow onion instead of Vidalia, and heavy on the peppers.

I picked up a rotisserie chicken since they were on sale - thought I'd get 2 meals out of it. However, that thing vanished in about 5 minutes... whoosh. Dd complained about getting the lemon pepper variety, but that was the flavor on sale (less than buying a same size raw bird) so tough. She ended up eating half of that bird herself!!

I made some white gravy and a package of Rice a Roni (one of the remaining boxes from a stash of them I have been slowly trying to use up this year). Not the most balanced meal, but they were happy with it and it was cheap, which was the goal tonight.
