Smoked Turkey leg
Post
by Bergy » Thu Aug 03, 2017 10:55 am
I know I love any smoked meats but I know very little about them so when I saw locally smoked Turkey legs I thought WOW. I'll just wrap that in foil and bake in a very slow oven. Thanks heavens I asked Bea how she would do it. She said the only way she does them is in soup - Aha I thought needs added moisture SOoooooo I didn't have time to make soup so I threw the leg in a large pot added a heap of water 4 carrots an onion cut in 4, 1 potato , 2 bay leaves 1 1/2 tespoons dried oregano & simmered it for 30 minutes added 4 slices of cabbage simmered for a further 15 minutes and out came a very delicious dinner. The turkey was fork tender & moist. Thanks Bea I am so glad that I asked you or I would have had a very dry terrible mess..

Great photographs Bergy!
I have 4 smoked legs in the freezer that we smoked ourselves. I used a recipe called "Smoked Ren Fair Turkey Legs" that I found somewhere and have misplaced it, when I find it I will post here.
