I'm not cooking this year going to my family's place, I imagine just the regular boring Thanksgiving food they have every year :|

Now, Tday 2 with my poker friends ... we do a theme each year. Cajun one year, TX one year, this year it is Seattle ... NO clue. One friend is from there; so, he has seafood in his stuffing; and seafood sides. So, who knows.

We will find out more later. He makes the menu ... we just cook!!!

I live in Seattle and have no clue what a Seattle Thanksgiving is (other than WET :) )Keep us informed.
I'm with you, no clue either. He has some family recipes he claims are from his great great grandmothers, etc from Seattle. He will let us know ahead of time. It will be a surprise I am sure.

I love having my classics; it reminds me of family which I have none; they have all passed, except my son of course. So, I enjoy that.

But, I love my second one with friends; because it is always a bit different. Basic dishes; just different is all.

Here are a couple of different ones I have done over the last few years ... on my second day; which is where we have a bit more creative fun.

Our stuffing at least for me was the best. A whole stick of butter, celery, onion, mushrooms; and sweated them on low for a good 30 minutes. Also a little s/p, and poultry seasoning. Add applesauce (not cinnamon, plain) right at the end.

Add to a bowl with TONS of pepperidge farm bread crumbs and cubes (Mom always mixed it up), broth, 1 beaten egg; and a little milk. Put in a pan and bake covered for 30; and another 15, until a little crisp on top. That was stuffing.

Well, as usual I am up in the middle of the night so thought I would pop in here and see what everyone is making for Thanksgiving this year!

Kim, your meals sound delicious as always... You are a very creative cook and I love looking at your recipes :)

Mikekey, your menu sounds every bit as delicious!

I love all the different things you are all making this year. Some have traditional items on the agenda and stick to the same basics year after year and others change it up. I love the varying menus and traditions!

This year I had bariatric surgery right before thanksgiving, so I decided to make just a small Thanksgiving dinner for my son and I before I had surgery...

I had turkey, stuffing, butternut squash and potatoes. Quick, tasty and oh so good! No trimmings this year, but you know what??? There is going to be a huge spread here today from soup to nuts and I'm not cooking or eating what they are having. My Aunt Ann is cooking up a storm, so I have no clue what we are having other than turkey... I will post what she had on the menu, when we eat!

Here is my dinner with my son:

Glad you are back. Your TDay dinner looks fantastic!! Very classic for me today. A friend over later, and my son tomorrow for leftovers. Next weekend we get to have fun and creative.

Hope you are feeling better after the surgery. And, glad you don't have to cook.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!! Have a very safe and happy holiday. And, I know some not in the US do celebrate the holiday - so for all of you ... a very happy holiday as well. But most importantly ... whatever you do ... enjoy the day; whether it is with friends, family; or just relaxing - ENJOY and RELAX!

Multiple turduckins and a whole lot more food, football, spitits and friends, nothing better in the world. Happy Thanksgiving!

This turkey lover usually sees the American holiday as as excuse to enjoy an extra Thanksgiving ... except this year still on soup and soft food ... all the food photos have me so wanting to have a rerun with turkey and stuffing and ...

What a beautifully browned turkey, I can almost taste it! One great looking meal meal!!

Happy to see you back Linda, and in such good form! :)

It was really good Gerry... I ended up having Autumn Squash Soup from Panera Bread and it was scrumptious..

Okay, so for Thanksgiving my Aunt Ann cooked a fantastic meal of turkey and gravy, sweet potatoes in maple syrup, stuffing, quinoa salad, butternut squash, rutabaga, peas with onions, sweet corn niblets, boiled onions, white and wheat rolls, black and green olives, and 2 kinds of cranberry sauce. For munchies she had my mom's stuffed celery with walnuts, her stuffed dates, hummus with carrots and celery, Mimosas with Champagne and Orange Sherbert, Wine, and Apple and Squash Pie for dessert... It looked delicious, but I was very content with my lil bowl of Autumn Squash Soup from Panera Bread  Surgery went well, and I'm sticking to it

That Turkducken sounds mighty fine too! Never had the pleasure of having one... Did you make it yourself or buy it?
