Re: Organic?????
The difference for me is smaller batches of foods made by smaller companies that try to use better ingredients and fewer additives to make a better tasting product. I am happy if I gain some health benefits as a result, but I mainly focus on taste and quality. SO yes, I do buy organic if the items look like they will taste good, and repeat buy them only if they really do taste better.
When I can afford to do so, I do buy the organic meat and dairy because I have often found them to taste better - chicken especially. I buy most of my veggies at a local farmstand, so call that organic or just call it local produce - for me it is the same reason to buy - less processing, less hands involved in getting the food to me, and fresher food.

Re: Organic?????
Marion, I have heard the meat is better, but thats it, just heard. I can never get myself to pay that extra to actually see if its better.Marion_in_Savannah wrote:I don't seek out organic foods, but if an organic item (salad greens, for example, where we live) is about the same price as non-organic I'll go for the organic to avoid pesticides. I've heard that organic free-range chicken is supposed to be SOOOO much better, and let's not even get into turkey at this time of year, but I'm not willing to pay 4 or 5 times as much.

Organic, is it REALLY organic, or just labeled ORGANIC.
Now, truly organic is very beneficial health wise; as well as the taste. But, you need to make sure you are actually buying ORGANIC.
And, yes, it is a trend, and there are way too many organic wannabes, that are somewhat organic, but NOT 100% organic.
I have rheumatoid arthritis and was told to eat organic to lesson my symptoms; unfortunately, I just can't afford it. Now, a good friend of mine was in a wheel chair, couldn't walk, hardly could brush her hair. She went on a strict organic diet. NO packaged foods. Only organic raised meat, vegetables, also fresh eggs, milk, cheese. NO processed flour, grains, etc. Yes, it costs a fortune ... but she is out of her wheel chair; NO meds, and is amazingly healthy. And studies have proved, not just with arthritis, but other illnesses, it does HELP.
So, NO. True organics is just too costly for me. I wish I could.
Many labeled organic, are just those will less chemicals.
Some, are true; but often very expensive.
Do they taste better, TRUE organics I think do. They have a fresher and more true taste. The meat tastes like meat and veggies, very fresh tasting.
Grains are unprocessed; eggs are bright, firm, and yellow, and really taste like an egg
Milk, is fantastic and fresh tasting, same with cheese
The meat, chicken primarily is fantastic

But NO, I can't afford it, but would love to. But realistically, I can't travel some 50 miles every few days to get truly organic foods; and that which you get in a store are not always 100% organic.
