Bracing for more car woes

Post by HeatherFeather » Fri Sep 21, 2012 12:08 pm

Last time I had my car repaired, there were some additional things that needed to get repaired "soon" that I knew I couldn't put off too long. It has been a few months, I am still digging out from the huge hole in my finances the last massive car repair bill cost me - but I finally made my appointment for this Monday to get my car looked at.

I know already I need a few basics (oil change, check the A/C etc). I also know from online research that I am very likely looking at an $800 repair for the item that I know needs fixing. I am really, really hoping it isn't that high - but I am bracing for a huge bill. There is no question that something is wrong and I'd love to just replace the car instead I can't afford to. I can't afford the repair either, but this has to get done.

Hope the repairs turn out to be not too too bad.

Me too Heatherfeather. A sick car can be just as costly as a sick person these days.
Only a car you can buy new parts for more easily! Uffda...

It's terrible to be caught betwix and between. Can't afford the repair bill but can't afford another car either. I had a ford that I had to keep running and I swear in the long run it cost as much as getting another car. I know where you're at Heather. Hope the billisn't too high.

I was happy I went in for another opinion. I saved myself a huge bill. The second opinion said my car is still safe to drive as is, just noisy. Before any long trips I will likely need to recheck it, but it is ok for now. I had some basic routine maintenance done and that was all that was necessary for now. The other shop wanted $800, I paid only $70 at the second shop. Glad I went to the other place!

That is a huge difference! So glad things turned out well for you! Did you know that you can rent a brand new Fiat for $199 a month! Sometimes a lease is a better deal.
It gets incredible gas mileage too!!!! That's a positive! Sometimes the gas usuage is the deal breaker.
