Re: ~ Click to Feed the Animals ~

After all the cold, a raging storm all night on the 24th we were fortunate it moved on and seems to be warming up. Left a tremendous amount of snow behind. Once cleared we were able to enjoy Christmas Day. Hope your weather is improving.

Our temps have risen to where we are now above zero and melting is occurring. Never in my 30 yrs up here have I seen this happen in December!!! There is another threat of flooding on the coast! Thank goodness I can still remember the good ol' days of when there were actual predictable seasons. Now it is a crap shoot.
On a lighter note...happy to hear your temps are rising. The only plus is now that we are out of the deep freeze....it is easier to keep the home fires burning for warmth. Not going through as much wood...as we still have 4 more months of winter. Fun times in the 'hood!

As with you, this year from the first major ice storm seeing the weighing down of limbs, some of which I suspect are broken, heavy snowfall alerts, to extreme and extended cold and today ... a new Red Alert "warming temps creating extremely hazardous travel conditions. Road closures are highly likely later today, and power outages are a distinct possibility." And it's only December.
I have a double battery indoor generator that will see to lights and such but unreal to think to no heat source. Power wise we have been fortunate, but iced up power lines are another matter. I can't imagine the amount of wood used at your house during the extreme temperatures. Hoping you and anyone dealing with these extremes stay safe and warm.

How is your day going weather wise? After what you wrote yesterday had me concerned. Living in the forest in the mountains I see all kinds of changing weather and sometimes it can be frightening. And wondering how you are faring! Hope you will be alright Gerry! Good thing you have family near!
Yes...we went through a great deal of wood just trying to keep the temp in the house up. Now with above zero temps we are only having one fire a day in the evening...so it is balancing out.

Whoo no rain but talk about snow, had the walkways and to bird feeders shoveled, called my regular yardman and said so piled in I thought I needed a bob cat, he cleared the street frontage, then said I was right and it was on to getting a bobcat in. Amazing how much one can spend without leaving the house! I want my tree back! That beautiful 60 foot evergreen offered one lot of protection from that wicked wind. Power only went off minutely just enough to have to set all the clocks and the computer!
Heard back from Judy, she is at her brothers, and is having a problem maneuvering to get to the forum. Again no return message from Misa. Good to hear you are keeping temps up and see that wood supply last through the rest of the winter.

That is a great quote Gerry! Every animal lover can attest to that...as both you and I well know! How much snow did you get to have to get a bobcat in? Wowzers! Thank goodness it was a power blip and not off for hours! Good that you heard from Judy! Happy to hear she is with family and not on her own! I sure hope our wood lasts..that is if we don't get another deep freeze. History here has proved that Jan & Feb are our coldest months...we shall see if it will be the same this year...who knows!!
