Wow, that is a loooong recovery process! Glad to see you're at least into the second step of the process and seem to be improving by the day. :)

I am sure you miss simple things, like taking a bath, going to the bathroom without it being a hassle.

Glad you are in a regular cast, and also that the pain is starting to be less.

Well, colour me shocked and amazed! Yesterday the surgeon removed my cast, and I'm supposed to start putting weight on it! It's about 10 weeks earlier than I thought it was going to be, which yesterday made me almost have a panic attack, but today I'm adjusting. Instead of a cast, I now have this surgical shoe thingy which is removable (I have to take it off for the therapy exercises anyway), AND, I'm allowed to take an actual shower instead of a sponge bath!

It's definitely going to be a slow process...just pressing my heel to the floor results in hellfire pain right now, but I now have hopes of going back to work in March instead of late April. :D

I'm back on the real pain meds, after having been off them for about a week, but I can deal with that since there is now an end in sight.

What great news Felix. A real shower...nothing in this world better than that after a couple of months of rehab. :) It sounds like you're progressing ahead of schedule which is a really good thing. Sending you big {{HUGS}} and lots of encouragement.

Good news for sure - Keep on doing whatever exercises they give you. I thought you said in one of your posts that you were at work - guess I missread it. Relax and recover quickly

I'm on VERY restricted work, Bergy. Officially, I can only do work that can be done sitting down, and I'm not allowed to use stairs to get to it. Which since it's hockey season means I can do games (I sit at a computer for those) and nothing else. Works out to a maximum of 9 hours a week as opposed to the 70+ I normally do this time of year. And if it wasn't for hockey, I wouldn't be working at all.

So far, every time I stand up I try putting weight on it, and I've gotten to the point where I can do it for almost 20 seconds without wanting to die. I'm also supposed to write the alphabet with my toes several times a day (standard sprained ankle exercise) since the tendons aren't used to stretching, and then several times a day I'm supposed to try to pick things up with my toes (at which I am failing miserably so far).

I did call the surgeon's office yesterday, and they explained that while I am out of the cast now, it will still be mid-February before I'm able to walk like a human again. So I'm looking at March at the earliest before I'm finally back to work full time.
