I just saw this post - I'm 84 used electric all my life but I wouldn't hesitiate to switch to gas. My gas line comes into the house on the opposite side from my kitchen - Multi $ to switch - not just the new stovebut the hook up would be over $1000.. I HATE my ceramic top stove. I want to tell my stove what I want it to do not have the stove tell me. The $#@%& thing goes on & off as it sees fit even before something things are boiling.
I am learning to cope but I am not a happy camper.
I have a long tale about how my dream 2 oven stove was a disaster and I ended up with a free replacemner - but I won't bore you here

I would love one of those combination stoves which has gas burners and an electric oven. I can't have gas as the gas does not go to the kitchen but I would love one of those type of stoves.

I also hate the ceramic tops that all electric stoves seem to have now and wish the burners will come back but that seems only to be on a gas stove.

I am older than you and don't think a gas stove will be that hard to learn.

I have recently seen ranges where you can have gas or electric cook tops to your range and even have a deep fryer on the side sort of mix and match.
