Thanks, Dissie! I passed on the phone number. Hopefully they can find some help soon. I'm trying to behave but I am just livid. (Deleted rant.)

Oh girlfriend, if you need to let loose and rant. Please do! That's what friends are for. I am sure you are upset and pissed. It pissed me off. I was like, really? This child has water on the brain and a tumor and you won't refer this little precious boy to a specialist? What country are we living in?

Call your legislature, that's their job. Call your governor, Call the president. Honestly, leave a message of whats going on if you don't get a person to talk to, but leave a voicemail. Tell them you will call the press. If no one responds, call the press, someone will pick up on this and if it makes the news, think how many people will get pissed about it when it airs. You will get help if you raise enough stink. I know you shouldn't have to, but sometimes you just have to be the squeaky wheel, especially when its your family. But first try medi-cali. That what they are there for, to help low income families and this certainly qualifies. If they can't, I am serious about this. Raise a stink.

I can be REAL stinky and it has nothing to do with eating beans or cabbage. If I have to call Washington, Sacramento, radio and TV stations, I will.

I'm just mortified that we give everything imaginable to those who are here illegally but won't take care of a VETERAN'S son! It's wrong on so many levels.

Yes it is girl. Call that number tomorrow to try to get help, if they turn you down or won't help, DO IT. Call anyone who will listen. I was just thinking. Well I wont post that because its just anger talking and our gov't is just ridiculous about how things are right now. But honestly, my mom was an advocate for this county, so she knows resources for people in your place. I know its a diff state, but can't be that diff in CA. There are churches and organizations set up for this. Ronald McDonald house might be of help my mom told me. They do lots more than just house relatives of sick kids.

Oh Dissie, thank you SO much! I didn't know Ronald McDonald House helped with anything but housing. There is one right across from the hospital where they want to take A. They will be the next call. Thanks again!

You are very welcome. I am sure you will get the help you need. I am just so upset that the DR treated you guys like that. Very sick child and wouldn't refer....I want to smack that DR. Especially after finding out he is a veteran. The VA wont help? Isn't that what they are there for? To help soldiers?

So sad racr, and just after you got back in touch with them. You may try calling Loma Linda or another children's hospital, and talking to the social services department. They know of pretty much all of the different programs available for this sort of thing. Some hospitals even have their own charity like Kaiser, and I was able to get that for my Dad when he couldn't afford his cancer care there. I was able to get free expensive dental care for my son by finding out about a dental program for children under 5 by calling Loma Linda. I do wonder too if his children qualify for anything through the VA...

and last but certainly not least St. Jude just popped into my head...there is no cost to be treated there as far as I know: http://www.stjude.org/stjude/v/index.js ... 0215acRCRD
