I've never bought food-type magazines, because mostly there isn't anything in them that I can't find other places. However, I do still have subscriptions to magazines. My favourite is The Week...I've had a subscription for almost ten years, and have gotten about ten other people to get one as well. Off and on I'll get a subscription to Entertainment Weekly, but it's too gossip-oriented for me. All the rest of my subscriptions are trade journals.

I still love them, but I can't really afford them. But I just bought the most recent copy of Cook's Illustrated.

I generally pick up used copies at the library for ten cents each. :D

That is what I have been doing lately too Chocolatl - the library sometimes has great issues lying around. :)

And of course, because of my location, even the local library charges more than most other places (25-50 cents an issue) :o But that is still a pretty good deal ;)

Yesterday I couldn't find my kindle so I grabbed a handful of magazines and read them on the bus. Funny how out of place and outdated I felt! Still, I love them and enjoy several subscriptions. As a household we get:

Real Simple
Better Homes and Garden
Taste of Home (a gift from mom since its inception - it's ok but I wouldn't pay for it on my own)
Fast Company
Sports Illustrated
Rolling Stone
Maxim (did I just admit that)
Men's Journal

I used to get a few magazines, but have let the subscriptions expire. I used to get
Readers Digest
Taste of Home
Kraft Food
Good Housekeeping
Southern LIving

I am like most of you, its easier to find the information online, if I remember to frequent their websites. Thats the problem though, out of sight, out of mind. I try to remember, but honestly months will go by before I am so bored, I really start looking around for things to look at. I will read a magazine if its laying on my coffee table or in the bathroom.

I use to pick up a copy of "Real Simple" when it first came out. So since it was mentioned here. I went to the site to look again. Very nice site with many simple flavorful recipes.

I still purchase "Cook's Illustrated" every other month as there are only 6 a year. The trouble with their mag. is the price.

I use to have a subscription to "Canadian Living" which I gave as a gift each year to my Mother & Mil. I no longer subscribe as they sat around the house unread. I also send the "special" editions south (USA) in packages. This is something I am asked for World wide by friends.

I have a subscription to "Car & Driver" which is coming to the end. Picked it up dirt cheap.

Another that is free here is from out Liquor Control Board called "Food & Drink". I am often asked for this mag but it is so large that the costs of mailing are very expensive.
