I don't blame you for being pissed and upset. When my niece went into labor with her first child, I received a call saying she was at the hospital. Nothing after that...2 days later, I was finally able to contact someone and found out the baby had been born. I thought she had been in labor all this time and/or something was wrong! Clearly not the same as a death but madding none the less. I now have a written chart with names, numbers, emails, etc., so when I kick the bucket, my immediate family will know who to call.
I'm sorry for you and your mom and send my condolences to you both.

Felix sorry you had to experience this and I"m sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel. I didn't find out my grandmother had died until after her funeral.

Yesterday her grandson called at 1:25pm to invite my mother over to the house to help go through pictures for the funeral. At 2:00. I suppose we should be grateful he actually called.

We've decided we're doing the afternoon visitation tomorrow, then also the short one before the funeral on Tuesday as well as the funeral and graveside service. Today it finally hit me, probably because the obituary was finally published (our local paper has gone to just three days a week, which for some reason means they also cannot publish obituaries online between physical issues).

She's really much better off. She was 85, and had triple bypass surgery about a year ago, which she never really recovered from. She's been in and out of the hospital and nursing homes and rehab centers for months, and even on the rare occasions she got to be home, someone had to stay with her at all times.

Sorry for your loss. Perhaps it was shift changing time. I would definitely speak to the top person of the hospital - Administrator or whatever the title.

I had a brother-in-law that died in a nursing home and nurse or aide did not know the procedure to follow re when he passed away. I would think that would be included in their training. Good thing his daughter just arrived and "took charge".

I'm so sorry for your loss Felix. Unfortunately, as far as family goes, nothing surprises me anymore. Try to focus on your memories and remember "What goes around comes around." Celebrate your Aunt's life and try to ignore the hurt of family members.
