Donna, we are having Prime Rib at some point too, I was hoping for Christmas Eve, but plans have already changed for that day.

Sissy, PLENTY of time to catch up on your things to do list, take moments for your lists, and You'll feel MUCH better!
Thank you! I will try to get another pic now that it's finished. Dave was looking for lights the other day and a guy at the store told him in Sun City, they light up the palm fronds with green lights as well. I told DH, "This ain't Sun City" - retirement community  We actually thought about it, but his old ladder has issues and I don't want him up that high off the ground!

LOL!
Reminds me of a year when Hubby went WAY overboard at our home. He called me at work and BEGGED me to come home early..I get home, and there were lights all the way up a poplar tree, must have been 40 feet in the air (i was SO happy i wasn't home to witness him climb THAT!) Our electric bill was outrageous, and I titled the layout..."Consumerpowermation"! lmao

Having had exactly three days off in the last four weeks, and being that it's going to be next weekend before I see another one...I have done NOTHING. No shopping. No cleaning. The endless boxes of decorations are in the attic, and the tree is still in its bag in the basement. I know what cookies and breads I'm baking, but I haven't had time to make the list of what I need to buy to make them.

It gets worse. Christmas at my house is on the 18th. I'm taking four days off the week before, but we've got a hockey game and a major concert I cannot miss.

Apparently, I will be doing my shopping (both presents and baking needs) on Monday and Tuesday the 12th and 13th. Work the 14th, but only at night, so that's when I'll wrap. Baking the 15th. Concert the 16th. Baking the 17th. I wish I could tell you when we're getting the stuff out of the attic or decorating, but I've truly got nothin'.

My little tree is up, I still need some more ornaments (hey when you downsize to a small apartment, it is amazing what can be downsized). I will make some goodies here and there probably for some friends at work. I have a couple of gifts to buy, but my list is really very short. All of my family is out of state, I spent a fortune buying for them when I first moved away, spent another fortune shipping, and they didn't even send cards.....I culled my whole shopping list right then. I don't buy gifts for any of them anymore. Christmas is way low key for me, and not being in the stress is nice, but I miss out on that too. It is just hard to be in the Christmas mood when I am very homesick. I have made some life long friends here, but it's not home and I miss home terribly.

Nice thread MaMere.

Christmas shopping for me is about 80% done. I need to get gifts for 3 of my friends and that's it. Immediate family (mum, dad, grandparents), boyfriend and other friends have been covered.
Holiday baking - I'm not sure yet what is happening yet cause I am seeing my planned list of goodies changing right before my eyes for various reasons but I am surely going to be making Eggnog and Trinidad Black Cake (recipe coming soon.) I'll be sending some of the cake for my mother with my grandparents when they go back to the USA this Sunday cause she hasn't had it in so long. So the cake will either be baked tomorrow or Saturday. From Monday my baking/goodies list will *hopefully* be finalized - unless I see new recipes closer to the holiday season I want to try (as long as I have ingredients for it) I already have almost all of my ingredients for this holiday season (both sweet and savoury) so I don't want to do any more unnecessary shopping.

Decorating will either be done this Sunday or Monday, I need to re-decorate my wreath cause I have had it for a long time and it is looking really old so I want to sorta hide most of the green foliage on it. I always have an artificial tree which needs assembling and I have to buy a star for the top this year cause my other one has bit the dust. I really don't decorate outside the house much, I usually just hang up a starlight sphere near the wreath outside the door so it will illuminate the wreath at night and I'll hang some bows around as well.

I'm not wrapping this year, I'm putting everything in those Christmas gift bags. I am looking forward to try making homemade marshmallows for the first time (wish me luck) I also bought a set of mini tart pans and silicone candy mold which I can't wait to take for test runs as well.

You know, after typing this up, I don't feel like I am that far behind as I thought I was. I am still trying to figure out Christmas Lunch though.
