I hope the link works . I just read a story that we are looking at higher food prices in about 6-9 months and they are advising ppl to stock up.

I feed 10 nightly .. I am going to have to get creative on top of creative.

Yep! Stock up on sugar (very poor sugar beet harvest this year) flour and all products made with it, corn products, and don't forget peanut butter (poor peanut crop) and soybeans too weren't good either.
I have stocked up on many things already. We farm, so knew a long time ago what was coming.
Tough for poultry and cattle as well. Yep...not good...

Jelly, do you use beet sugar? My dad more or less brainwashed me into thinking cane sugar was the only acceptable choice.

Yes. On the east coast I used cane sugar. That's what we had. When I moved out here I started buying beet sugar and it works just as good. It was in my head that cane sugar was better. It was what I was familiar with.
I don't see any difference in baking or jellies, jams, preserves or marmalades.
Cane sugar has always been more expensive too.
But this year the sugar beet crops were so bad, anything that has sugar in it will be costly.
Will have to see if there is a difference in costs for both after the holidays. We will most likely feel it when the stores are down from old crop. Depends on exports too.
I have been stocking up on things for a while now. My freezers are full too. I don't know where I am going to put this years deer...if we get one or two.
My MIL will let us use one of hers most likely.
Need to do some cleaning out with mine. I have three, one upright, and two chests.
I am going to stock up on peanut butter. Have to check the expiration dates. We love the stuff here!!! :D
So glad I raised so many chickens!!! I nearly fell over at the prices at the markets!!!!
We get free turkeys every year so I am not worried about buying one them. Relief! :o
