Hi Shirl. In fiction, that's standard nursery food in England for children and an easy to digest food for the ill, although I don't remember the salt and pepper. Is your mom's heritage British maybe?

When I was a kid I loved peanut butter, bologna and dill pickle sandwiches. I still make it every couple of months of so, really filling and tasty. It doesn't digest as well as it used to nowadays so I have to be really craving it. LOL!

French fries and beef gravy still to this day.

Cottage cheese with a couple of halved pears, peaches or pineapple rings on iceberg lettuce leaf. To me this is a normal side instead of green salad.

One thing I really like is when having spaghetti I like to put my green salad with Good Seasons Italian dressing on the same plate and mix it together with the spaghetti.

When I make home made Mac and cheese I make a rue and add milk and melt in American Cheese that comes in the blue box (half on big box) and mix, no baking. I always serve with baked beans (in a loaf pan) topped with wieners pushed into the baked beans a little and smear ketchup over wieners and bake for around 40 minutes to kind of caramelize the ketchup on the wieners and a big tossed green salad. It never varies and my kids make the same meal, just like mom.

I love glazing my hams with my home made Garlic, Jalapeno jelly, that is really good.

My grilled cheese sandwich I always use mayo instead of butter to grill in my cast iron skillet, wonderful, the mayo seems to grill crispier and stays nice and crispy versus butter.

Can't remember all of the posts so I'm sure I'm forgetting some. :D

I LOVE mayo and mustard on my sandwiches too!!!!!! (You are the only other person I know who does this). 8-)

I also salt my watermelon (except when I put a plug in it and fill it with VODKA...but THAT'S a topic for another day, ha, ha, ha).

I love Malt Vinegar on my french fries. In fact, a lot of our restaurants have the Malt Vinegar already on the table for that purpose.
We must be related!!!! :D
I didn't realize that most did not marry their sandwich condiments, I do it all the time, in fact a sandwich isn't a sandwich without mayo (sometimes ranch) and mustard. That thought is actually quite weird to me. Really, at Subway people often put mayo and mustard on their sandwich together when I'm standing in line waiting for my turn.

I like mine with ketchup. I also like frozen fish cakes on a sandwich with HP sauce. Another one of my favourites is potato chips on bread with ketchup again. Can you tell I love my carbs.

Are you talking french fries sandwich? I use to eat those all the time....Sometimes it would be with ketchup and other times mayo....Wow....it's been a while for those yummy sandwiches.

I never picked up my Mums habit of putting salt on watermelon but I see a few here do the same. As well my Mum puts salt in her draft beer...YUCK.....
What use to drive me crazy was when I made homemade soup of whatever kind my friends and their 3 kids use to put ice cubes in them all the time  Not because of the heat just because that is how they liked it. That kind of ruins it for me especially when I make lobster bisque and they throw in ice cubes...
But myself I think I'm pretty normal if there is such a thing....I don't eat anything unusual.
So far I think Kitten has won the prize of the weirdest....lol......

That must be where my Mom got the idea for saltines, hot milk and butter...something we always got when we were sick. 8-)

We have a weird family recipe that's actually really good- it just looks ugly! My Mom would spread mustard over the top of a thick ham steak, and pour milk around it in the dish. It came out of the oven looking sort of creepy, but it's yummy!!
