I think I joined here a couple of years ago, but have been offline as far as recipe sites are concerned. I am very glad to be here!
I went to Food.com today and tried to find the old Community message boards (many I had saved as favorited topics because there was a wealth of excellent info there). Umm...but I cannot seem to find them?!?! Is this part of the brave new world now destroying the-site-formerly-known-as-Recipezaar (which is how I refer to it...if I ever refer to it)?

I think so. I could not find them either, and I doubt they'll put them back. I did find one of their corporate minions' blogs, and she was apologizing because archived discussions would not be able to be restored. It's tooooo haaaard... LOL

I know when the forums went down they said for a few months they were working to get them back up. Then they said they could get them up as a Read Only. Which I was hoping for to copy the info and recipes everyone posted. But that never happened. Too bad it went corporate and that they destroyed such a popular site. I sure hope it hurt their bottom line.

Me too. That was a great site when it was RecipeZaar. RecipeZazz is working out really well for me, so this has become my goto site recently. I found KittenCal's recipes on RecipeZaar originally--love them.

I never bought that line that they wanted to get things back up.
I suspected they intended to take the forums down and wanted to see what would happen with the membership exactly before they made it permanent. When it didn't blow up the whole site, they cut it off forever. At least that's what I think happened. It's not like they would come out and say it if that's what they did.
Who knows?
But hey, the sun still rises.

I have to agree. Very sleazy. As you say, the sun still rises and I'm really digging this site these days.
