My Big Mac

Post by Sue » Sat Jan 03, 2015 3:44 pm

This is a pic of my big mac clone. I made it the same day I did Bergy's burger sauce recipe. No recipe yet--I have my recipe in a finished state but won't post it until I get another pic.
As you can see, my burger slid a little so I will wait and take another shot. It's very good though and if it inspires you (that is why I am posting the pic) then use Bergy's special burger sauce which is close enough. Also to be authentic, did you know McDonalds has rehydrated dried minced onions for their big macs? Back in the 80's we did a burger might at Parks amd the manager ordered some and it had their logo and it was basically a 5 gallon bucket of dried onions rehydrated and packed in water. It gives it that funky smell. LOL But in a strange way it is kinda' good. At home, I soak a tablespoon of that in hot water then drain it. Works for me.

Enjoy the photo and your Saturday burger, if you're having one! :D
I had mine for the week already so I have to wait. *pout* Can't eat too many or they will follow me around...like lost puppies...I could look behind me and there they are!!!!! =)) =)) =))

I think it looks wonderful. I actually love those onions ... in a strange way they are good. NOT sure why; but, they just work

Now that reminds me when I did a very short stint at the FIL's doughnut shop 35 plus years ago and had to fill them with cream and custard, can't stand doughnuts but then was never a big fan of them except for his hot cinnamon ones which overcome my phobia of having them because as a teenager I ate so many I at a speedway event I was so sick that I couldn't stand anything with cinnamon but he had cocky's/farmers ringing up and ordering them by the dozen to take back and they would freeze to give to the shearers for their morning afternoon teas, first time it happened the cocky/farmers rolled up and just about wiped him out of his days stock before lunch so he educated them (yes the word soon got around) into ordering so he could have them ready for them.

My first job as a teenager was a in donut shop. To this day the smell of a donut shop instantly makes me feel like I should clock in. Not exactly conducive for me to be a customer at those places! LOL
It's not the smell of the donuts, but the other smells with it, like the fryer mixed with all the sweet, the yeast smells, and everything else. I'm sure you know that overall scent well.
