Engrossed, I have read that some children are picky eaters if they get more attention for eating that way. I do know that for many years my sister would only eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Her doctor said that was okay because she was getting all the vitamins and minerals she needed.

LOL, I think we all worry that our kids are eating healthy, but keep in mind that babies have thousands more taste buds than adults do. So anything that is even slightly sharp or bitter, many kids will NOT touch. As long as you're trying, he'll be fine. My grandson James prefers ravioli from a can over my lasagna, but he can taste the garlic and spices much better than we can. Insulting though. LOL!

Engrossed, a friend of mine had this same problem with her children. They finally outgrew being picky but that doesn't help you right now.

What they never did outgrow was their love for watered down juice instead of milk. They didn't get enough calcium and with the sugar in the juice, they both had horrible problems with their baby teeth. It doesn't appear that their permanent teeth are going to be any better. Max looks like a healthy little feller but you might want to ask his pediatrician about his calcium intake.

Kids eating habits can be quite quirky. Two of my "little" friends have been DEVOURING sushi since they started eating solid foods. Mom doesn't let them have the raw sushi. It's kind of fun to go to a sushi restaurant with a 3 year old and 5 year old and watch the stares as they tear into California rolls or salmon rolls.

My kids were not picky at all, they would eat anything. Especially anything spicy with DD, she loved to go to the Mexican restaurant. Now, the grands are much more picky. Well, other than my #2 grandson, OMG I love that kid...he is a little chubby and he is the first one at the table. That child LOVES to eat

Thanks everyone :D

Racr, I do worry a little about the 'sugar' in juice but I'm not too worried about the calcium as he likes his gummy calcium vitamins and does eat some cheese and other things that contain calcium. His teeth look good so far, I brush them everyday with a xylitol toddler toothpaste which should help with the 'sugar' problem too. I still need to pick a pediatric dentist for him.

Sushi is a great idea! I've been wanting some myself and it's handheld and coated in rice so he might like it. :D

Engrossed, I think Damien was around 4 when he started having teeth filled and pulled. Sounds like you've got a good start though with the brushing.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if a picky eater toddler LOVED sushi? I didn't think of it until right now but the girls beg for edamame. They love "peeling" their beans.

Never having had kids, all I can do is commiserate. I can also assure you that picky eaters survive! I was probably the pickiest kid on the planet when I was little, and I'm still here, and still moderately picky. Actually, compared to the kid I was, he sounds like quite an adventurous little eater. Indian food? I'd have died...! Hang in there — you'll both come through this. ((hug))

Thanks Marion my picky old swap partner ;)

I was recently going through my spices and found a packet of some type of chili powder I bought at the spice store when I was shopping for you and then I remembered you didn't like hot things so kept it...now I read the package and it has an extreme heat index...I think it's going in the trash. LOL :o

That reminds me, I'm almost out of that wonderful Tupelo honey. I wonder what happened to having a honey swap in the Spring? I think I'll bring it up.
