Thanksgiving 2022

Post by Gerry » Mon Oct 03, 2022 12:13 pm

Our Canadian Thanksgiving is this coming weekend, the American to follow in about six weeks. The past two years Thanksgiving celebrations were for most part on hold or very small gatherings. This year it looks far more promising to see to gathering of family and friends. With families starting their own traditions, distance and work the past number of years I have been going with open house on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend which allows for travel time home.

I happen to love turkey so no surprise turkey and dressing are a given. Love turkey sandwiches and the leftovers make for great freezer stash. Still undecided as to the dressing, having lovely fresh herbs from my backyard garden I may go with my herb dressing.

Thanks so much for posting that Gerry! Looks delicious. :) Great ideas for the holiday meal there.

We're actually planning to do a bit of a blog post about Canadian Thanksgiving.

Do you mind if we feature any of your images and recipes? Are those all recipes you've posted on Zazz already?

PS - I'm one of the new owners and still figuring out how this all works. Pleased to meet you. :) - Dave

Yes Wayne I expect a good number of us are looking forward to Thanksgiving this year! Numbers as they were the past two years I made the holiday meals which were picked up by family via doorstep. This year l already have a turkey in the freezer but may just add another to my grocery shop this week to celebrate the American Thanksgiving as well. Hoping you, Bea and our new owners will share a special recipe or two!

Be sure to have appetizers and beverages of choice close at hand to serve your guests as they arrive. I try to keep the Thanksgiving appetizers on the lighter side in order to enjoy the Thanksgiving meal.
Vegetable trays are always a crowd pleaser.

Two dips we enjoy my #recipe20911 and Luvcookn's #recipe5713

#recipe2222 marinated vegetables a great tasting make head. For special occasions looks gorgeous in a cut glass bowl.

For the shrimp lovers in my family #recipe5951
When serving as an appetizer I serve on a platter with a little glass of skewers along side.

One that is incredibly good and always impresses

Here are a few of my favorite Gerry, well my go to recipes for Thanksgiving.

We do the traditional Turkey dinner with all the fixings and then some!!

#recipe9133 This is a favorite here.

Image

#recipe9135 We stuff it with this pork and potato mixture which gets gobbled up

Image

#recipe1237 And of course you need bread stuffing....

Image

#recipe7844 We never have enough of the potato stuffing so these are a hit!

Image

#recipe10721 I make this ham from scratch, it is sooo yummy :)

Image

#recipe511 and this is also a must here. It is not your traditional french Canadian recipe but my hubby is Polish and it is a traditional dish when celebrating with family.

Image

#recipe452 And it wouldn't be a Thanksgiving meal here without this.

Image

#recipe2603 And last but not least, a lot of these are enjoyed, lol.
